  1. Wonder Twin powers...ACTIVATE! Shape of...A Sunburst! Form of...
  2. SHE'LL love it, although it's depressing that my 5 year old's first concert will be AI. What will he tell his friends when he's older? At least I could say my first one was BOC and Foghat. He'll be subject to endless ridicule.
  3. Speaking of manufactured crap... Guys PLEASE pray for me. My daughter wanted American Idol tix for her birthday, so my part of the deal was to suffer through ordering them and I wouldn't have to go. My wife's in trial this week and told me this morning that I'd have to be on the bubble if the case doesn't resolve. Oh $hit, just what I need-a bunch of lame karaoke act singers singing to crap tunes with 9-11 year olds screaming and whistling at the stage and screaming to their parents every time the concession guys walk through. Hour+ traffic backlogs in and out of the arena... Oh yeah, I'm guessing that the tee shirts will start at $55 per for kid sizes-whattya think?!
  4. If that's the kind of dynamic we can expect (the Tommy Lee/Jason N thing), Supernova will last about twenty seconds. Give or take a few seconds-likely take. Damn, Jason needs to find a band full of submissives. Unless of course, that's his bag.
  5. What range were you looking for on the Marshall head? I'm at a loss to even ballpark it, especially since Marshall stuff is all over the place. Feel free to email/pm me if you don't want to post here (for obvious reasons).
  6. Awesome! Here's hoping that #3 is an old, early four digit! Go baaaack. Agaaaaain!
  7. Not country performers, but the Shazam is out of Nashville and Hans played a Standard and their bass player had a 12 String Chap bass.
  8. That was not a good eBay deal. T'was a GREAT one. Congrats and welcome to the Four Digit Club!
  9. Average price right now is between $3500-4500 for 1980+ and $4000 and up for earlier ones based on condition, dot or b/c, features, finishes, etc. Kahlered ones subtract a bit. Head repairs a little less off than a Kahler route.
  10. Two problems with Floyds. I've never found them to rob/suck tone, but I do a LOT of string bending (you gotta when you're always a fret off of the right note ) and Floyds do not track two string bends well at all. Kahlers are superior in this respect, but Kahlers are more finicky and dependant on quality installation. Floyds dive bomb better than anything else out there, although I'm more of a fan of the traditional original Floyds (not the pull ups). Second problem-if you break a string on a Floyd, you're hopelessly fucked.
  11. Likewise, I'm interested in one of these, but I'm waiting to hear regarding some stuff I have for sale out there...
  12. Cool-didn't know about the black Turtle Wax. I need to get some of that...
  13. That is BADASS. Not Kiz's avatar, but the Sunburst. The avatar is a different bad ass
  14. JohnnyT: I am with you on all of that stuff. I'm taking 4-5 Aleves a day every day (something that the label says you shouldn't do more than 10 days), but the doc said that that's mostly to avoid stomach irritation. The arthritis is bad, but the more I play, the less it hurts (although my left hand is usually "frozen" in the mornings). When the cursed arthritis takes over, I'll sell most of my stuff and get another GTO. At least that's the plan...With the price of gas, maybe not!
  15. The creakiness and aches are the worst. What sucks is that just before I hit 40, I was in the best shape I've been in since college (a little backsliding in the past year...), but now I wake up every morning and have to eat two Aleves because it's impossible to walk down the steps. The arthritis in the fingers is really bad too-particularly in my left hand. I'm seriously considering giving up tae kwon do because it really kills me the next day.
  16. Had a good deal of interest in this one. For those I haven't had a chance to respond to, posting here might be easier/more direct (I can't get to hotmail that often during the day and have been out the past two nights)... Looking to pick up a few things, so trades or cash that would get me there or most of the way there for the following would be cool-looking for players so condition is secondary, but I don't want broken/repaired ones: -Les Paul Standard (70s-90s) -Les Paul Custom -Les Paul Deluxe -Les Paul Pro Deluxe -70s Fender Tele variants -70s Fender Antigua stuff -non-Chinese made Vox AC30 + cash -Gibson Historic Junior or Special -Rick 660/12 in Blue Boy -70's/early 80s Dean V. ML or Z -70s Ibanez Destroyer (korina) -original '58 Explorer -that chick in Formula 73's posts...
  17. So do Chaps. Sorry-I was talking set necks.
  18. That's correct. Three piece necks came about on Sunbursts in '79 around mid-year. Hamer's continued the three piece necks with the exception of special runs like the Triple Threats. Four Digit Standards were one piece necks as I recall.
  19. Looks like my Vector KK is still in the fold-I've had a lot more interest in this one than I was expecting. In any event, to be honest, to sell outright, I'd want some cash, since I wasn't thinking that this was one that I'd ever get rid of, but if I can turn it into a decent trade, that would work for me, since I'm playing my Phantom for Kahler stuff almost 100% now. Vector KK-'84, rare natural top and cherry back/sides like KK Downing's (matching headstock), top and sides are pretty clean, but the back has some wear on it-buckle rash and down to the wood a little (see pix, but looks worse in pic than in person). Hamerlock tuners, all stock, chrome hardware. This is the lightest guitar I've ever owned and probably the lightest guitar I've ever picked up. With Original Hamer HSC. Email me at "serialsteve@hotmail.com" if interested. If no trade offers do it for me (or acceptable cash offer), I'm keeping this one!
  20. Dude, you're more than welcome-awsome rehab work on the Hamer Phantoms. I was glad to see a fellow Phantom nut on here. Oh-that wasn't a slam on anyone in or out of rehab. As a practicing drinker, I am the last person to judge anyone else's demons! Stick around-you'll find some skins are thicker than others-there's a LONG history here of people getting bent out of shape and leaving in a huff (not a slam at huffers either). Most of the reactions were not meant to be personally offensive-you should see some of the $hit that's gone down here when people get fired up. Still, you'll find that this is one of the best places to hang out on the net.
  21. Fire on the mountain run, boys run. Devil's in the house of the risin' sun chicken in the bread pan, pickin' out dough Granny does yer dog bite? No, child, no. Sorry.
  22. Great pics-great looking guitars!
