Creating A Hamer: a behind the scenes look

So what's the deal? You show up at a jam and everyone measures headstocks to see who has the longest one? -
Creating A Hamer: a behind the scenes look
Steve Haynie replied to HSB0531's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
You should have gone with two strings so you could hit power chords. -
I saw Hurricane as an opening act years ago. They were OK.

The 4:00 PM customer is gone. Now if the phone does not ring. Customers call at all times. They really can interrupt while my day.

How did you learn to play guitar (or bass)?
Steve Haynie replied to Feynman's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I took banjo lessons at a local music store. Then guitar lessons. My teacher was the store owner, and like many people in music stores he had been playing around locally including a few radio/TV gigs and teaching for years. Years later there were bass lessons from a college educated jazz guy that opened my mind to music theory. More years later there were a couple of months of guitar lessons that took the theory further. The rest has been from talking to people, reading magazine articles, and using books and videos. Not practicing negates all of that. -
The concert audience was full of a lot of peopl in their 40's and 50's. I saw an old man and his wife who had to be around 80. Why they were there is a mystery.

A friend of a friend bought the bass in this video. It is supposed to be one of two copies of the Lobue bass Gene had in the 70's.
-
Disturber, when trying to play the video a message pops up saying, "The uploader has not made this video available in your country."

I am warming up to Tommy Thayer. He got to sing his own song last night. He did his own solo instead of the note-for-note Ace solo from Alive!

I have not had time to write a review of last night KISS concert. Here is the really short version. KISS was great. They always put on a good show. Paul's voice was a little hoarse. He could not hit a high note. The beginning "WAAAaaaaAAAAAaaaaaAAAAAAaaaaOOOOOOOOOHHHH!" of Heaven's On Fire was a moment that Paul likely would like to forget. When KISS started playing I Was Made For Loving You it was obvious that there was no way Paul would hit those high notes. Paul had to be thinking, "How do I get through this?" He dropped those down about three octaves and carefully sang those lines.

Steve Haynie replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Can HELL schedule any similar sonic disasters in North America? We would settle for that. -

We have to convince a record company and some concert promoters that we want a tour over here. -

Somone in the audience has a Santa Claus hat. It is August. What is that person thinking? -

I have two browser windows side by side. We could have a chat while the show is going on. Does anyone else get a loud hum/buzz at 9:05 AM EST? It is louder than the music. -

My customers are all out the door now. So, it is 8:48 AM EST and there is audio of someone setting up a band while taped music is playing. There better be video! -
HELL live stream tomorrow
Steve Haynie replied to kevinbower1959's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Using a time zone calculator shows that it will be 8:35 AM for me here on the EST time zone in North America. If the show is ending for the day at 11:00 PM in the UK, it will be 6:00 PM here. Something should have been streaming when my first post was made. -

The festival starts today, and it should already be going on but there is no live stream. -
Favorite bands you'd never admit to
Steve Haynie replied to woodpile's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Loverboy had a weird place in rock and roll. They had the 14 year old girls screaming at their shows because of Mike Reno at the same time the rockers were getting into the whole band. Rod Stewart was really good with Jeff Beck and The Faces. Later stuff was a little hit and miss for me. Prince was always interesting and had something for everyone. Duran Duran was a love them or hate them kind of band around here. -

I admit that I bought all the CD's in my collection and paid for every concert ticket. Nothing is hidden. All is admitted by me. -
Mine came in today. There was so much to see before having to leave the house that now I might actually want to go home.
