Do not worry about finding period correct parts if they do not magically appear soon. Just put in good electronics and make that bass stage ready. Play it! Play it! Play it! At least you have the right bridge. If you need a tracing of an original pickguard to have one made let me know. Make sure there is no neck problem. Someone stripped that bass for a reason.

FS 1976 Standard

If someone can afford the guitar the cost of a road trip to pick it up ought to be easy enough to afford for those within 600 miles. -
FS 1976 Standard

By the way, I have a variety of Casio keyboards from the 80's that were returned or traded in at the local store, dozens Slammer by Hamer basses (some need neck shims, but that is no problem), 20 or so JB Player Strat copies (most have strings although some have been slightly parted out), rack gear that needs repairs (probably just fuses because no sound comes out, nothing major), and dozens of highly collectible guitar ads clipped from vintage magazines that could all be sold for $10,500 that will am willing to trade for your Standard so you are ensured to get the full value. -

Don't let svl buy it or he will put a Kahler on it! -
Why oh why does the camera get wiggly during the guitar solo? Could it be that Jef nailed it so well that the person with the camera was knocked out?

Value of the most expensive guitar you own?
Steve Haynie replied to zorrow's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
The 1977 Sting Ray with the Inca Silver finish is your most valuable bass. Even if the 4 digit Standard bass could bring a higher value, the Sting Ray will be an easier bass to sell for a high price. If you have to hold out to get a high price for an instrument then its value is not as solid as that of an instrument you can sell any day for a high price. -
A friend learned to powder coat parts for the drag cars he was building. He said it was easy.

Need help tracking down guitar history...
Steve Haynie replied to Brentrocks's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
This has been an interesting thread so far. Thank you, Brent. -
+1! I don't know if you blame everybody else for changing everything around over the years and turning music into crap, but I sure do. Edited to add: My message to youth: Get off my lawn!

In my 20's and 30's all that old music was collected and consumed. It was possible to listen to Megadeth one day and Woody Herman the next. Keely Smith is better than Lita Ford. Les Paul was cool long before Jimi Hendrix.
-
Of my friends, I am the only one listening to Coheed & Cambria. After hating Cookie Monster vocals for so long, Amon Amarth has been surprisingly good. There is a point where new bands go in a different direction than what has come before them. If they are good, they are good.

That girl can sing! The band is good, too.

One day you need to add a first generation Cruise Bass to your collection. ...and then a 12 string of some kind. Blitz Basses are cool.

The '59 is color more people are used to. If you should ever sell or trade your Shiskov it will be easier with a '59 burst. As Chris and Sugartune have said, part of the pricing is the same color for everyone. Having to mix/spray/clean up for a different finish costs more time. If you know you are going to keep the guitar forever, pay an upcharge and go with the green and let it be an extension of your personality. The Shiskov is not going to be like your shredders, so is it what you really want to play all the time or just occasionally?

Do we assume this just ain't happenin'?

Big deal. A monkey grip body and a 5 + 1 headstock will keep away the trademark police, and no one will really notice those changes.

That's some funny stuff right ther. And makes the things I asked for seem more reasonable... But if Rick Nielsen wants it... Oh, wait, different guitar company.

"Wow!" again!
-
Although it shouldn't need to be said, the aforementioned item is NOT an available option. Well... That is a deal breaker for me.

NGD- a bit belated, but it's 2 USA Standards!!!!!!
Steve Haynie replied to psc3251's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Ooohhh... We usually complain when someone talks about a double standard. In this case double Standards are a good thing! -
That tour came through here in the last week or so. Having seen Styx so often in the last few years along with knowing Mick Jones might not be with Foreigner turned me off from buying a ticket. On Friday 38 Special is playing a show, and my ticket is on the front row. The thing about all these bands is that you can go to a show and every song they play will be recognizable from airplay or albums that were the top sellers of their day. Very little can be considered "music for insiders" with these bands.

Yeah, but did you play it LOUD and IN SOMEBODY'S FACE? That guitar is made for rock and roll!
