Yes. It is so cool that the last Hamer went to someone on this message board, AND someone who was buying Hamers 30 years ago. Let's hope Gibson does not sue over the bell shaped truss rod cover. It might get Hamer shut down. What a subtle way to give the flying finger at the end.

That guitar has a 70's look. Somehow, it gives the feeling that it would have been one of those guitars wished for all during high school. Does it feel like an old friend?

Are other guitar manufacturers offering jobs yet? Surely the reputation of all of the Hamer crew would have been known to people at other companies.

Put 23 on it. Or at least 11. When my 8 string came in on a Friday, I broke one of the drone strings and had to go a weekend being unable to even order a replacement. Everyone ridiculed me about my 7 string bass. Screw them all! I had my dream bass-- a Hamer 8 string! Even with one string missing a bass like that 12 string is going to be cooler than all the rest.

Might have to take out one piece of case candy before going overseas...

Just make a bell shaped truss rod cover!

hardheartedbill did something worse than get DNA in the case. He played country licks on the guitar as soon as it was in his hands! Not just any country licks-- expertly played country licks!

The guitar is working its way to me. hardheartedbill has a Big Block Dodge on April 10th. If the guitar is here in time that will be its first stop. An e-mail was sent to some of you, so this is the time to arrange some jams or gigs in Upstate South Carolina, Western North Carolina, and then Charlotte. I can drive down to Columbia, SC, too. Brooks has given me a show date, but that date might be too soon.

So, what happens to the mistakes? A nice piece of maple ought to be salvaged into something.

How about a semi-Tele shape? To make the guitar more cost-effective why not have a sponsorship for each guitar? A big ad across the front of each guitar would make them more affordable to make. Maybe Miller Beer could have their logo put on every one of these simple, Tele shaped working man guitars.

One of the first Silhouettes came into the local music store around 1985 or 1986. It was something that had to be picked up and tried over and over. Something was different about the feel of that guitar, but everyone could tell it was top quality. Everything moved up from there. The Silhouette started off with 24 frets when it was introduced, and there were interchangeable pickguards with three configurations. In the 90's the Silhouette Special was introduced. That one has the 22 frets and the neck pickup is moved up a little. Silhouettes look a little smaller, but the bodies are not really small. They are rounder, but the body width is about the same as a Special. Silhouette necks have gone through changes, and the necks of the last 15 years or so have had the wax finish that makes them feel like they have been played for a long time. The shorter headstock might make you think the neck is shorter, but it is not. At the Music Man factory tour the claim was made that the quality is as good as any boutique guitar, including Tom Anderson. Having seen Tom Anderson guitars and many Music Man guitars, there is some truth there. The construction quality is top notch. Music Man does use multi-piece bodies, but if you look at how the pieces are joined there is a zig zag to the line. Their wood joints are a bit of overkill compared to other companies. Sterling Ball also wants to keep the quality high, so production will never increase to meet demand if there is a quality sacrifice.

I got to try the Wyldil Pirate #5 yesterday. It screams ROCK AND ROLL!!!

I need to make a decision on taking a couple of guitars to Jay in Nashville. Shipping two guitars costs as much as the gas to go to Nashville, and a day spent driving is sometimes what I really need. I can move the guitar around between Atlanta and Greensboro. I need and excuse to go to Florida, too.
