  1. I thought they went for about what Jimbilly wrote, however looking at the completed auctions on ebay, $700 doesn't seem all that excessive anymore. That one may have the boost pull switch on the volume which you may find useful but which i think may be considered less desirable. If you don't need bells and whistles (tremolo, reverb) and want a real bargain, try a Fender Musicmaster Bass amp (a "bass amp" with 12" guitar speaker in an open back cabinet). They sound fucking amazing and can be had for $300 easily harry
  2. silverface fender princeton reverb if you want crunch or blackface fender princeton non-reverb if you want clean headroom. 5-600 bucks
  3. i dont know about sound, but there's a huge difference build quality and especially materials grade between old USA and W. EUropean tubes and current production tubes. Reliability-wise there's no comparison. I have three of four workhorse amps getting used at least twice a week at band volume, all between 40 and 50 years old, and they all have old tubes.
  4. congrats! Does the Firebird X have anything to do with the timing?
  5. I love the hatred for the Stripes on this board. I mean, there are so many better bands to have reached mainstream success the last decade. You gotta be hip and/or teenaged to get into this crap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPeuFt749l8 here's a compilation of the hipster crap they exposed the cool kids to http://musictraveler.blogspot.com/2010/03/...te-stripes.html
  6. agreed. yet weirdly i still play through a tube amp because I'm mainly concerned about whether I like the sound I'm getting. THis makes me sound like total selfish AND self-absorbed asshole!
  7. ...but if Jay-Z [...] man's 41 years old.. just goes to show how in with the times you are
  8. that bass did not have the right title, the awful white balance in the pictures made it look ugly, it was sold by a pawnshop etc.. no chance
  9. ok ill take them. set neck hammer . just need one for bridge position
  10. we know, dave http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/index.p...3466&st=15#
  11. why is this such a bad thing? if the take is good, i'd keep it, such "mishaps" add charm to recordings, IMO.
  12. it always makes more sense to buy a used hamer
  13. oh they got the tooling.. they made phantom customs in Connecticut you know They made this one 5 years ago:
  14. OH YEAH!! take this guitar.. change the color (or not).. run of 20 @ $1500-1750 street.. feasible? me, my only reservation with a special or vector jr, is that at the end of the day it ain' nuthn but a straight up gibson copy. this one ain't:
  15. i agree with polara, it has to be more reasonably priced than a custom order. Juniors are cool and simple and white is a great color. i don't see the point of a reissue sunburst.. the originals are currently cheaper and will always be cooler.
  16. for anyone looking for a mosrite copy, get a dillion (made in korea, or at least they used to be a couple of years ago). i've owned both an eastwood and a dillion and the difference was staggering. the dillion was flawless, less generic sounding, better looking, cooler hardware and had unobstructed fret access. http://www.dillionguitars.com/guitar/elect...G75T/index.html
  17. just curious, why the reissue and not the original?
  18. that looks amazing.. fuck refinning it. please paint the sides black or cover them in stickers or some shit re floyd tone.. i got this ugly ass diablo w/ a floyd and two jb's, neither of which im a fan of and which i think is the best sounding humbucker guitar. i can't live without single coils nowadays so i only use it to record or rehearse metal.. i almost want to send it to you to see if it can turn you gay for floyd
  19. I'm thinking about starting a relic business in which I break and reglue headstocks
  20. i can't believe gene didn't buy that standard
  21. the difference is no binding vs binding
  22. i seem to recall set neck chap customs w/ obls and boomers ending at $700 as recently as a few months ago, well done veatch
  23. Black N Blue zulu phantom with stoptail/tom!!
