Floyd tribute in Teaneck, NJ, Friday 9pm
jisham replied to burningyen's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Great tones and playing. Very cool indeed. -
I was hoping the Punisher was still around and in good hands. I think it's one of the coolest Standards ever made.
-
I want one eventually. Love the guitar and I like the vibe of guy who makes 'em a lot.
-
So few people realize this until it's too late. A legend forms before our very eyes. Nice to see you Bill...

Used Buddas should be about $120...new about $169 I think.
-
I used a CAE for a couple of years when I was doing the modern rock thing, which I think it does very well. I found both settings useful, but I didn't care for the "boost" function. When I switched to southern/classic rock, I didn't really like how it sounded so I sold it and went back to using my Budda Wah, which just kicks all kinds of ass IMO.

My understanding is the best way to find out these things is to contact your preferred dealer to request the Hamer you'd like and see what happens. At this point, it may be that no one at Hamer KNOWS what is going on any more than anyone here. FMIC is calling the shots, no?

They're strings for chrissake... I can't help but think these are the same people who spend $450 for the latest-greatest AC amp cord cuz, well, it improves the tone in their bedroom. -

Agreed..."Dean" shows up with some purposely vague post that "all is good now but sorry, not gonna tell you what happened in the past." Then the mods post that the negative posts have been removed, then they lock the thread. I'm glad I don't read TGP unless I'm looking at something for sale or do a search on a specific piece of gear. There's so much ass kissing and hyping of products over there it's not funny. -
The more I look into the Liquid Metal Teles the more I want one. Bad ass all the way around. The guy who runs the company seems to be real cool too...he posts some neat things on Facebook.
-
You might also want to look into a MXR Carbon Copy -- great great delay pedals.
-
Dean would probably hire him.

OOOHHHHH@!@@@@ Love that Charvel quilt top. I've been seriously eyeing the new Charvel Production Series.
-
Indeed. I really wish I could figure out a way to get along with Floyds.
-
+1 I look forward to the day when I can spend thousands more for what will probably be a '59 Burst Artist. ROTFLMAO!!! In any custom color you want as long as Jol likes it.

Hamer Brand Loyalty
jisham replied to Nathan of Brainfertilizer Fame's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Yeah, I don't own any Hamers at this point although I might get another Standard one day. My stable is really small these days: Gibson LP Standard Limited Edition G&L Bluesboy Fender 52 Vintage Hot Rod Tele October Guitars custom-built doublecut -
That's true and while I and many probably understand what you're saying, the other side of the coin is that $4000-$6000 street priced Gibson will probably retain at least 85 percent of its value over time. Not so with recent Hamers from what I've seen.

I thought Hamer had no problem doing custom neck carves? - Austin That was last month. I kid...sorta. I find it frustrating they change their mind so much about they will/won't do. I've said it several times here before but the only custom order I ever tried to make was for a white Standard. I got an unequivocal NO! Lo and behold, months later someone posts a pic of their brand spanking new white Standard. That was the end of me ever considering a custom order from Hamer. I bought a few stock models after that, and might buy something else used in the future, but that's it for me. For better or worse, that kind of stuff really pisses me off. YMMV
-
Or they realized that a picture of Jol holding a guitar doesn't actually sell Hamers.
-
PRS baby...PRS. PRS indeed. There was a Washington Post article years ago about the PRS strategy to get its guitars into the hands of as many "signed" players as possible. From what I remember, at the time, PRS had a guy whose sole job was to give guitars to up and comers, and the article talked about how well it was paying off for the visibility of PRS. There's nothing really hard about it all; a company just makes a decision to DO IT. It's been beaten to death over the years on HFC, but seems like Hamer has never wanted to take an approach like that, for whatever reason. I also agree with Chris: to plunk down what it would cost for a custom order then have to wait months and months to get it doesn't work for me. For better or worse, if I want something I WANT IT NOW. By the time the order showed up, I would have either moved on to wanting something or else or be totally disappointed that my <ENTER HIGH DOLLAR AMOUNT> custom order didn't live up to my expectations. Right now, if I wanted a Hamer, I'd be scooping up used ones as they are true bargains.

I absolutely love Teles and that one is just seriously seriously cool IMO. I did some poking around and found this on YouTube. Sounds freekin' great! Pricey though according to the Liquid Metal site but probably worth it.
-
Yeah, Tony and I have been following this for awhile. I hope they pull it off.

I've seen NB live several times and always thought they were a great band and I enjoyed seeing them. All these shows were also totally sold out so other than a bunch of guitarists on internet forums who seem to bitch non stop about them, they're doing something right. They sell a shit load of CDs and I'm sure they make serious cash touring so I say good for them as I wish it was me.
