I'm a bit surprised that aspect made it through whatever final inspection was done. I recall reading something long ago posted by Dave W. himself where he indicated he looked at/played every guitar before it left the shop. I also think I read that these E-types have no routing under the pickguard for a neck pickup.

Another E-type. I believe only six of these were made, with almost all having a different pickguard (don't get me started on the pickguards...)

I believe there were 777 of the LNGs with the signature. The hand rest on the trem was only on some and is more sought after. The matching number case is a plus also. Stories are out there that some only had signed back plates and non numbered cases for various reasons. A similar one recently sold in that range...was described as being unplayed.

That's pretty cool. I went to a Letterman taping years ago and and Harry Connick, Jr. was the live performance. Yay. This would have been way cooler. Man, all those hours I spent as a kid listening to Kiss Alive and studying the gatefold sleeve and booklet that came with the album....
