  1. I didn't misquote you, nor did I change the meaning of your post. And yes, you are naive if you think any of the things you mentioned have any bearing on what a corporate bean counter sees on a <Ace Frehley voice>P&L statement</Ace Frehley voice>. Yes you did. I AGREE with you that that bean counters don't give a whit about such things. Bean Counter = Bottom Line. "It depends on whether FMIC will use that cache or just go for the bottom line." Leaving that part out completely changes the meaning. If the bottom line/bean counters win, then they won't use that cache, which means all that Jol/GP stuff doesn't matter. Period. Agree. If you're trying to say that bean counters always win and none of this matters, then say so.
  2. Relax. Sticking someone in the eye by calling them naive, and then misquoting to make the point wouldn't sit well with most folks, myself included. Thinking happy thoughts now.
  3. You're being naive if you think that any of those things matter a whit to some corporate bean counter. I'm not naive, it just depends if FMIC Corporate views those as "assets" to make use of. If the beancounters had their way, then yes, it is irrelevant. Meet profit goals or else. Or even shutdown if not worth it. FMIC did not get to where it is by beancounters alone though. Fender has an IMAGE; that's what they sell. Marketing folks are in the mix too. If they don't view Hamer's image as an assett, then the beancounters do win out. And if you want to quote me, DON'T EDIT: "It depends on whether FMIC will use that cache or just go for the bottom line. If they're smart, judiciously using the positive image and goodwill will naturally help the second."
  4. Well, I think that's what most everyone is questioning. Granted the opinions and conjecture in this thread are running away like a train, but there is reason to be concerned. If Fender decides to make changes, no one can stop them. IMHO, the two big things in Hamer USAs favor are #1 Jol and his increased community profile over the last 4+ years and #2 the continual rackup of GPs Editor Pick's for the last 5 or 6 new Hamer models. It depends on whether FMIC will use that cache or just go for the bottom line. If they're smart, judiciously using the positive image and goodwill will naturally help the second.
  5. Jol is Hamer USA only. Isn't Frank Rindone "Corporate"? (USA+imports too).
  6. That serial is for a 1995 model Hamer. It's buried in the support menu: serial numbers Yours is the 40,496th Hamer made under the non-4 digit numbering system.
  7. Chris, you're PM box is full.
  8. She's a beaut! Kids will give you a whole new perspective on the world. 40 weeks? Was she late, or did you include design time and negotiations? LOL.
  9. Really like mine. Chime and kerrang!
  10. I can never see parting with my two custom-order Studio Customs. They will both be inherited.
  11. No wonder he blew this joint. No one can spell his name write. Or maybe that's an underlying psychosis; there are too many "e"s in his life.
  12. Well, I just feel terrible. No, wait, I don't.
  13. Jack Zucker? That was my guess as well -Austin I'll never tell. Even if you try to whip it out of me with a stack of wet pubs.
  14. I suppose I could be. Weight? Pics? Price? are his favorite lines.
  15. When I said bowing, I meant very slight. Sometimes it's hard to see; it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the guitar. I like my action very low, and have to do some slight adjustment for about 1 in 4 that originally have action higher than I like. My vote is with MC; not your problem. Sounds more like buyers remorse and he's looking for an out.
  16. Even if he didn't go to smaller strings, it might need a truss rod adjustment. If you had them high, that could hide a slight bowing that really becomes evident when lowering the action. WRT flat frets, the guitar had to have seen quite a bit of action to require fret replacement. Or does he mean fret dressing? If so, that's nowhere near 200. Don't know the terms of your sale; ebay, for sale verbiage, etc. Would have to know that to know where you really stand. Have I ever had a case like this? Not with guitars, but with a stompbox. The guy is -well- known over on TGP. He went apeshit over a $75 pedal that didn't work like he thought it should. Said his son had a pedal with the same problem. WTF he didn't ask me before is beyond me. Took it back; took shiipping both ways out of hide. Sucky thing is I had taken a publication of his in partial trade, which I ended up keeping and paying for. Kevin's blows it away!
  17. +100 I pity those who think rock styles and lyrics should be limited to everyday happenings with simple song structures. They are missing so much.
  18. George Harrison - Electronic Sound. An audio account of Georgie learning to use some new equipment.
  19. My thoughts exactly. Now, that's got me confused. Gibson forcing Hamer to make Vectors only if the headstocks looked like Vees? I would think the obverse.
  20. In their current methodology, it would be a custom order. Even if the neck joint was the same (bypassing stikes theory), it's not how they normally build a Vector and they would have to depart from what they normally do to put one together. Changing pickups is a "custom" order. Now whether they'll do it and how much it should cost is a whole different set of arguments that have periodically roared around this board. Basically, if you get what you want for the price you're willing to pay, go for it. If not, lobby or get it somewhere else.
  21. Wow, it really does glow in the dark!
  22. Heard Rich Robinsons short-lived band, Hookah Brown. Months-long search eventually netted me a Harry Joyce amp. Heard Jimy Pages HTWWW playing on Heartbreaker, and a few amps later am still not there. Metal Panel era, baby.
  23. I have noticed that too. Other than tricked-out Cali's, or now Chaps, the number of 80s Hamers for sale on ebay has gone down substantially since 2-3 years ago. Either people aren't selling them because they can't get what their (imho) real worth is, or owners don't need the cash now.
  24. I can definitely see that as a date killer. Heck, it creeped out my college apartment-mates. Lyrics
  25. Alright, I get to be the out-lier on the bell curve. Hawkwind - Obscure (in US) Heavy Space Rock band. Pour in pounding hard rock and swirling synths, with a dash of poetry, and set blender on puree. Was Lemmy's old band before he formed Motorhead. With constant lineup changes (Lemmy was their 3rd of 8 bassists), every release was a slightly different flavor. Have all Vinyl available, and 95+% of CDs. Why? I haven't a clue, other than I've always liked stuff that's a bit more out there.
