Heh all, beginning to look at power attenuators and wanted opinions if you have the time. I used to have a 1U rack unit, but sold it probably 20 years ago. Can't even remember the name/brand and besides don't want a rack form factor anyway. Taking a quick look, you can go cheap (Bugera) with the top end units being pricey. At this time, would probably want new, but if there are recent out of production units, that would probably work too. Looking at sound quality at higher attenuation levels, flexibility(4,8,16 ohms in one), # of attenuation settings, and then "other" options such as tmb, etc. Thoughts?

Researching all things Plexi: suggestions wanted

Super Crunchbox v2. The original Crunchbox is JCM800 to hotrodded 800, but the Supercrunch has some lower gain settings. Does the glassy Plexi sound very well. Out of Production, but I found a clone that nails it. -
An Iridescent Centaura on Music go Round. Had just bought another Hamer so let it go, intending to pick one up later. Directed a relatively newbie HFCer who was looking for one to it, who snapped it up. Well, am still Centaurless. Price? $258. DOH.

Mine is MI Super Crunch Box Ii; have had it for 2 years. It can do many things Marshall. I got it for the low settings for that live JP loud glassy texture, then pushing into medccrunch w/vol knob. I'd been searching for years for a pedal that did that. Discovered it in a 9 year old youtube demo. It can also get into the Crunch Box's hot rodded territory (which have had for 15+ years). Unfortunately they appear to be OOB; couldn't find one. Eventually found a clone on reverb. Have since seen them used on there in the $300+ range.

I was doing FM college radio (10 KW) when that came out and luckily had complete control of my shows content. I played the heck out of it. Many DJs were playing the new-edgy whatever it was at the time. I didnt care, and this album just screamed PLAY ME.

If I ever take a backplate or a trussrod cover off and don't immediately put it back on, wanders away free range. Forget the screws, they fall into that orphan sock blackhole. -
Always a good watch. He's a genuine been there, done it guy.

I hit HFC/UFC in 01 era so was fortunate enough to have a ringside seat to most of his antics. Made the mistake of visiting HFC during the workday all too often; lost it more times than I could count and coworkers would just stare at me. Actually did meet him once he was still on Nova; bought my copy of Rick Nielsen Guitars of the Stars from him. Smart guy. When he later made the occasional swing thru HFC it was like old days, a cause for celebration. Although he did confuse the heck out of Pam by then.

Proof all Klons sound the same.

It's a good circuit if you use it as a clean boost into an amp near breakup. When it starts clipping it really gets parts dependent. -
Live Title track from their recentish studio album (35th?) on sleep. Including nightmares. Most of their songs are a journey.

Includes Pre-Motorhead Lemmy.

GMP Pawnshop with TV Jones Classic Plus in bridge, and a Wolftone custom in the neck. It crunches and it sings like no other.

I'm gonna need some documentation on that. I stand corrected. He was a much better vocalist than Teddie though. -

Maybe strap the guitar higher? Or did you mean near this nut? Happy to hear the good news, Mike! That nut. It's my left wrist. Single notes are ok, but chording up there kills me.
-
I am so happy to see this venture for a great guy get off to a rousing start! Goodness knows I love em, but old injury prevents me from playing ultimates near the nut. I look forward to when he comes up for air and can think about double cut, or some shiskov-unique variation! FB variation, or something inspired by Robin Fleetwood would be cool. Very playable for guys like me.

Fixed. Crickee, my bad. I -meant- Chris and not NotChris.

Thanks Steve! Knowing how busy he is now, its much appreciated that you are able to and take the time to ge the info out. You're actually a good publicist, Employee #2? LOL... BTW, is Yuri really his brother (Fender CS)?
-
Same here. I'm a single/double cut guy, and have been jonesing for a Electroglide-ish guitar for a looong time. Only like the Hamer hockey headstock, so never thought it possible before.Does anyone know if he's going to do archtops, or all flatops?

And you can hang with Lindy Fralin! -
I'll second Murkat's seconding. PRS made sure that their guitars were in the hands of upcoming bands and consequently gained remarkable brand identiry. Hamer did it in the late 70's and 80's, but when they swiitched back to the Modern Vintage type of models, much fewer new relationships were established. Don't know why.

Ha! Also feeling inspired by this thread, I brought an early LP Classic home with me yesterday Now all you gotta do is push it off the guitar stand a few times.

What is you favorite practice amp.

VVT X-40 into a boogie-like thiele 1x12. It's rotated over the years but this one has stuck longer than any other. Will sometimes play unplugged, but usually not. Only use an acoustic to figure out songs/chords. Call me a heretic, but I really don't like playing one. Not for lack of trying; just doesn't strike a chord with me (pun intended). -
Hawkwind. That is all.
