ZR Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 Has anyone ever gone on one of these before? Line up... I'm not really a big autograph/fan boi/oh look a celebrity type of person but it could be fun to see a lot of band performances up close. Are they fun? Lame? What say ye? 1 Quote
RobB Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 (edited) I’ve never been on a theme cruise, but have worked with plenty of audio tech/road guys who have and heard their stories. They can be a total blast or not so much, depending on the lineups, accommodations, food, etc. The lineup on this cruise looks pretty awesome if you’re really into 80s metal. Hell, I’d go just to see Black’n’Blue, Y&T and Loudness. Buuuuuuut… Six days at sea with only two port-of-calls? That’s a tough one. Being stuck on a ship with 3-5000 rawkers? Not MY jam, but YMMV. If you enjoy cruise ship vacations and love heavy rock, it seems like a no-brainer. I’d do plenty of research before committing, though. Edited June 7, 2025 by RobB 2 Quote
ZR Posted June 7, 2025 Author Posted June 7, 2025 (edited) Yep, Y and T and Loudness stood out to me too. I like the top 8 plus, quiet riot, lita Ford, Enuff Znuff, great white. Saw black n blue at Sherwood Hall Salinas, CA over 40 years ago but can't remember much about them. Luv me sum roudness! Um, sorry...I'm half Asian so I think I get a pass but not sure! 🫢😝😉 Edited June 7, 2025 by ZR 1 2 Quote

Tommy Thayer’s band from Portland. I remember them from LA. They were on the heavier side for a hair band, and Thayer played a black Standard which was not a common sight at that time. Gene Simmons’ backing didn’t help them (or Keel, for that matter) break through the glut of LA metal bands. However, Tommy managed to do okay with KISS later on. 🤣 2 Quote
ZR Posted June 7, 2025 Author Posted June 7, 2025 Damn, the first cruise this year was speaking my language! The first cruise in March this year had a lot of great bands...extreme, Michael schenker, krokus, accept, Vandenberg. Queensryche, slaughter, Aldo Nova, Tesla. Winger, lynch mob, night ranger and others!! Wow!! Quote
Dave Scepter Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 (edited) Seems like a perfect breeding ground for covid to me~ Just a joke 🤣 Edited June 7, 2025 by Dave Scepter 2 Quote

currypowder Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 I’m not much of a cruise fan, but my girl and I have been on two Outlaw Country Cruises and both were loads of fun. Basically a small scale festival without massive crowds. And all of the cruisers are music fans so everyone is in a great mood. Our biggest issue was sometimes figuring out who to see as all the acts played multiple sets in different venues. To me, the ports are irrelevant. I’d honestly rather just stay on the ship in an uncrowded environment. A good friend of mine went on the Underground Garage cruise last month with basically the same experience. We have that one circled for next year, obviously depending on the lineup. If you’re a music fan, it’s probably worth going on one of these music theme cruises at least once to see if it fits you. For us, it ended up being well worth it and we try to hit one maybe every 2 to 3 years. 1 Quote
L2A3 Posted June 7, 2025 Posted June 7, 2025 I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos from these cruises, take a look at a few and see what you think. 1 Quote

The hand sanitizer doesn't kill norovirus. You can look up inspection ratings of the ships and see which ones clean the best. It shows when they were inspected and what the score was. https://wwwn.cdc.gov/inspectionquerytool/InspectionGreenSheetRpt.aspx 1 Quote
Brooks Posted June 8, 2025 Posted June 8, 2025 Looks like Zakk & BLS were booked on the wrong cruise. Looks like fun tho. Quote

Yeah, I saw some of Extreme with Nuno tearing it up on a stage at the pool level with people overlooking from the deck above. It didn't look that crowded which was nice. Maybe Kip Winger was posing for pics elsewhere... not WITH the fans just posing for pics! 😝😃 Quote

What I would worry about would be a Norovirus or worse yet, particularly for older people is C-Diff. My mom nearly died from it more than once. Spreads through retirement / assisted living facilities very rapidly and can live on doorknobs and surfaces for quite some time. But, Mas Tequila with The Red Rocker could squelch either of those. But then again, a simple Urinary Tract Infection took out my dad. 2 Quote

On B/B I wonder if Tommy will be playing. That’s the thing, who is actually currently in a few of those bands? 1 Quote
