Yep, the 'Beer Run' guy. Saw him by accident (we didn't know he was opening for John Prine) and loved it. One of the most engaging performers I've ever seen.

A friend loves Todd Snider and got a couple of us to go see him.  He put on a fun show.  Earlier this year my friend saw him again as his health issues were beginning to affect his touring schedule.  He is glad he was able to see Todd a last time.  I am glad I got to see him once.

He hit the news a couple of days before his demise.  What a strange story that is.  I'm still waiting for that one to be a little more clear in what happened.  Evidently he was assaulted, and then made a scene at the hospital which resulted in his arrest.  

RIP - while not a huge fan, I do have a couple of his albums and have been listening again.

Edited to add: the outpouring of grief on social media from his many fellow artists in impressive.  He was evidently a mentor to many.

My good friend, Tommy Womack, played in Todd's band for awhile and helped record "The Devil You Know" (a great album, IMO). It opens with "If Tomorrow Never Comes" as a response to Garth Brooks stealing Beer Run.

He wrote a remembrance for the Nashvillian.

I liked Todd Snider a lot. "Fuck Luckenbach. Drink with us," became a fixture in my vocabulary, even if no one here ever understands what the hell it's a reference to. 

Really sad story on how all this went down it seems.

It's a great story.
