PSA: 2008 Hamer USA Korina Standard - $4400

If the dillweed wants to post a $4000 guitar without disclosing its 10 pounds.  Have at it.   I bought a scale for $15 on Amazon to avoid this bs.

My Hamer Standard Korina is about 8.4 lbs with a 59-ish carve that has a decent shoulder.  It's big and feels a little heavier than 8.4 to me the way it spreads out.  9 lbs is likely my max but I've played some heavy guiars that did sound really good.

I’ve never owned a Standard (nor a Shishkov) that weighed more than maybe 8.5 lbs.  I’ve played a few boat anchors, but they’re pretty rare in my experience.

How were the boat anchors to play, by comparison? Aside from playing comfort, any differences to note?

They played fine, but I had a tough time getting past that weight on the big body.  My non-chambered Standards have all been pretty lightweight by comparison.

Received the Hamer.  I’m going to weigh again.  I don’t think it’s that heavy.  Medium neck size.  Plays great.

So after further inspection of the “case candy”…..not mentioned in the ad…..the original knobs and white pickguard are present as well as the original gold SD pickups.  Apparently what is in the guitar now are ThroBak pickups.  Maximum Vintage.  I have never heard of these, am googling now.

Prices seem to start at $819 a pair, so I would hope they sound amazing!

That's a bit surprising considering what he charges for his pickups. I've never played any of his, but everyone who has pretty much raves about them. Which model did you get?

Just googling them makes me drool. This guy is really impressed with them Bing Videos

And if you don't get off on them, you can probably sell them on Reverb for 2-3 times what most of us pay for new custom wounds.

So I put the SDs in the Standard and it’s what I feel like I’m used to.  If anyone would like the ThroBak pickups DM me and we can work something out.  Not looking for a ton of money.
