crunchee Posted February 8 Posted February 8 (edited) Just saying 'He's not gonna take it anymore' is just way-too-low hanging fruit, really. It sounds more like a proper retirement, perhaps other rockers should take note: Dee Snider quits Twisted Sister because 'a man's got to know his limitations' At least we'll always have this: and this: And he'll have more time for this: Edited February 8 by crunchee 4 1 Quote
kizanski Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Unfortunately this what Harry Callahan says before he shoots you. 4 Quote
diablo175 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 We're Not Gonna Take It is a staple in the cover band's set list rotation but there are a number of other more tasty offerings on Stay Hungry. For whatever reasons, gems like Horror-teria (The Beginning): A) Captain Howdy. B ) Street Justice and Burn In Hell just don't seem to resonate with patrons. Good on Dee if he is hanging it up because he accepts the reality and inevitability of getting too old to rock properly. 4 Quote
Brooks Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I nominated Cant Stop R&R to my Ded Mullet cohorts back in the day but was shot down. Great tune. 5 Quote
Spinaltap Posted February 8 Posted February 8 It's gotta be really hard for a vocalist to admit he can't sing his own tunes any more. 5 Quote
Dave Scepter Posted February 8 Posted February 8 I've always loved Dee Snider and found him very entertaining... remember Captain Howdy in Strangeland 🤘😝🤘 3 Quote

tommy p Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I hate to see that. I really liked Under the Blade, and You Can't Stop Rock and Roll is my favorite, but each album after that they lost me a little more. I only saw them once and it was years past their heyday. They were playing a little outdoor concert series in Richmond, VA and the day they were playing it was like a freakin' monsoon but all shows were rain or shine so they still held it. The venue probably held 10-12,000 and only a few hundred of us braved the weather and came out. They, and Dee in particular, played that show like it was Madison Square Garden and it was going to be the last concert the world would ever see. He gave as much as I've ever seen any performer give that day and I left seriously impressed. I hope he takes care of himself and lives a long, happy life. 4 Quote

Twisted was unfairly maligned due to their deliberately OTT image, but they delivered the goods. I saw them only once, a free show at the Santa Monica Civic. They were shooting a live show for MTV and had to do multiple takes of some songs. They still brought it, every song. And speaking of bringing it...This track on Reading Rock '82 is what turned me on to Twisted. Dee, one of the best frontmen EVER: Edited February 9 by RobB 1 Quote
