I can remember passing on those for $750-$800 as recently as 10-12 years ago.

At the time, it was tough to GIVE those away!

20 years ago, one of those sat in the front window of an antique store, in a small Virginia town. You could clearly see it marked at $199. I drove by the thing for at least a year. When it was finally gone, I stopped in to ask about it. Bought by a guy, and shipped to Japan was the answer.

I passed on one at the Fall Philly show in '99 at $550. Played nicely (other than the typical neck wobble) and was pretty clean, but it had a crack on the face by the controls. In retrospect, I should've picked it up!

Seriously - I had one on hold for me (at $600) at a little shop at the Beach and ended up buying something else because I couldn't get over the warped pickguard at the time.

(Why oh why?!)

Heh heh, I rescued a '62 from a co-worker (who had kept it in the GARAGE for the last 5 years) for next to nothing a few years back. Mine's not as clean, but equally killer.

It's cool man, I hadn't noticed it on the TGP actually.

Wow, that's about 3X what it's worth at present, which means it will be low next year.

When we moved into a new home in '99, I noticed my new neighbor across the street had two guitars leaning against a wall under his carport while he was cleaning his storage room. When I went over to meet him (and sneak a peek at the axes), I about hit the dirt when sitting next to a cheap no-name acoustic was a beat-up '60s SG with a pair of P-90s.

When he revealed he would never sell it for sentimental reasons (it was his deceased brother's guitar), I told him what he had in that guitar in addition to a personal reminder of his sibling. I also took it home, cleaned it up really good and set it up for him. He keeps in his den now, on a stand.

That would be a Special.

Townshend had a penchant for those...

Ummm, the guitar picks that Greg and I got from the show do say "Pete Townshend" on them.

You mean Dwayne Almond? :)

Donnie WAS the rocker in that family. Well, a little bit. :)

Jimmy was the Scrappy Doo of the Osmonds.

Damn-that's a coincidence and a half! I'm spinning that on my iPod right now, along with Creedence's "Bathroom on the Right" and Clapton's "Bald Headed Man"

Those aren't the words? Wow, I have to re-listen to all my old favorites, like Jimi's "Excuse me, while I kiss this guy".
