Why? Very little difference between the two bands.

One of the oddest pairings I've ever seen at a concert, except where crappy local bands have opened up.

Saw several Dokken tours where he played that one! Brings back memories! btw..HUGE difference between Loverboy and Dokken..you may wanna take another listen.

Wost pairing I ever saw was Iron Maiden opening for Molly Hatchet and ZZ Top!

Being a fan of both those bands back in the day and hearing both of them recently, I support the Loverboy camp. The songs are better and stand the test of time. Let's face it, In My Dreams is one German away from being a crap Scorpions song.

I saw a very good Loverboy show when they were cresting in '83 or so. The sound was excellent for the venue...could even hear the synth well. The guitarist was more bluesy based than metal but his sound & playing was monster.

Regarding Dokken, I saw them only because a roommate had a free ticket so I reluctantly tagged along. I recognize that some music acts might have three camps... like Richard Thompson fans might either love the songs and consider the solo as filler, endure the song just to hear Richard solo, or love the song and solo. No such luck here. Dokken's voice was never my cup-o-cheese and no guitarist could salvage the material from my ears. I was looking for a sword to fall on within ten minutes.

Now, from a social evaluation, here's what I took away from those shows; Loverboy was chocked full of ladies.....probably 50-50 . At Dokken, I couldn't count the ladies on two hands. Most of the audience resembled 8th graders that hadn't mastered the art of hygiene. Advantage = Loverboy

i liked the 1st 2 crue albums in high school, but besides them,

in the 80's i was all about heavier bands like maiden, metallica, anthrax,

plus some silly metal bands like priest, manowar, glam era local boys pantera...

plus dimeola/beck/yngwie/satch/vai.

and of course zep/sabs/jimi/rush/lizzy, who i liked in jr high.

funny, my tastes were better in jr high, i still listen to all those bands.
