LordOfTheThighs Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I had my camera out today, and got some pics of my 1997 Standard, with the factory Duncan '59 in the neck, and a Duncan Custom 5 in the bridge. Also, a pic of my 2006 Vector, with factory Duncan '59s, from a few months ago.
Guest pirateflynn Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Good ones! That Standard has a great top and finish.
MCChris Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Nice brick wall shots! Are double creme Duncans readily available or did you have to custom order yours?
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 Are double creme Duncans readily available or did you have to custom order yours?I picked the double cream Custom 5 up off Ebay. I'm a double cream / zebra kinda guy, so I watchEbay from time to time, when I need one. I believe you can custom order DC from Duncan, just it hasthe cover on it.Yes .... the brick wall shot. LOL. What better background than a brick wall?
MCChris Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Fixed the above for ya (not a good idea to hotlink to the Hall of Douchebags LOL).
kizanski Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 ...(not a good idea to hotlink to the Hall of Douchebags LOL).Oh GOD no!
LordOfTheThighs Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 What's up with that? Could I have been sued or sumthin??? I didn't know the Hall of Douchebags was off-limits? Is it because I was using their bandwidth? My apologies. I guess I'll need to copy them into my new Photobucket folder ... Hall of Douchebags with Unleaded Bandwidth.
kizanski Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 If you link to their pix, you end up with the filthy-bums-in-the-ally-fellatio photo. The one picture that can put me off my feed in a second.

IIRC, some sites will replace your picture with something like gay porn if you hotlink to them. It did happen to someone here previously.

kizanski Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Oh God No!Exactly. God forbid I get put off my feed.

What better background than a brick wall? I've been blasting out chords on my Korina Standard today through my ´73 Marshall, LOUD! The Custom 5 I got in there sounds sooooooo good. Man, those pickups are done just right. Little hotter than a PAF, but when you need it calm down a bit just role the vol knob off slightly and it sounds like a good '59. Best of both worlds.

I dislike the Sunburst color but it works on that Standard perfectly... More Brick's for you guy's..
BubbaVO Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Lovely. Both are just really nice examples. I bet they sound as good as they look. BTW I've always loved that JJett avatar - 3 hot rockers!
RobB Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Jeff, those two look great. The Standard's finish reminds me of the 59burst sprays Hamer did on the first-year reissues ('95). They look like cherry s/bs that have faded over 20+ years, IMO.Korina Vectors just look "right" with b/w/b plastic. And to think, original Gibson Korina V Heritage reissues are going for sick money with mismatched body wings (some three-pieced!) and lumber that Hamer would quickly reject. I'll try to shoot my black, '95 Standard. It has the DC/BC pup combo, too...
