RoyB Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 what kind, brand of bridge, T/P you going to install Roy?I'll have to think on that, but it will either be a Gotoh ABR-1 and one of our lightweight tailpieces, or an all TonePros setup.
martin-uk Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 I just want to say fantastic work,it may not be factory stock, but your saving the life of a beautiful thing.Keep up the great work. martin.
Crwth145 Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 A faded or lemon-like"burst" seems ironically appropriate for such sweet lemonade being made from such a sour deal... Nice SAVE ! ! !
serial Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 So the bridge is a done deal, and the back will be cherry, so now lets limit the color of the top to three colors. The two above or a faded almost burst like seen on this Paul. I've got pics around of my old #0326 (none on photobucket, unfortunately-I'll remedy that). It had a cherry back and sides and a very faded burst. It looked great I thought. A little more amber or caramel-ish finish than the LP you pictured.
BubbaVO Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Go with the faded burst - that is gorgeous! Please no pickguard.
DaveL Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 the lemon or lemonburst might be a good choice. perhaps you canhave the cherry back more subdued to simulate some aging/fading... one other comment on getting it signed. keep in mind that the auto probably won't add to the value however there may be a buyer down theroad that doesn't want an auto on the face of a 4 digit (even if it is restored). I know it's easy to remove with meguiars but the sharpie may bleed or discolor etc... just my .02 but otherwise, fantastic work so far.
cmatthes Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I would not recommend it getting signed - 4-digits are rising in value far too fast for that!
David B Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 I would not recommend it getting signed - 4-digits are rising in value far too fast for that!I agree. No sig.

No sig. Have him sign it on the back... The 91 Standard is signed on the front and the back... Have him put in on the Control Plate.

No sig. This is going to be an awesome player, but it'll never be original again. I'd have him sign it frickin wherever.
