sw686blue Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Don't take those clowns seriously but it's always a good idea to post an asking price.

DavidE Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 The seller has been in touch. I'll feel better when it arrives, but I think it will. If not, I have several avenues of protection.
DavidE Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 Promises unfulfilled. I started a dispute with Paypal. No response. I escalated it to a claim tonight and I called American Express and started my claim through them as well. My AMEX Blue has a no internet fraud guarantee, so I should be ok.This thread should be left as a warning, but neptune should be banned from this site.
hamertek98 Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 WOW! I'm very glad I read this. For a long time I kept my guard down. Let us know how this pans out! Promises unfulfilled. DavidE Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 That's a bummer....It is. I really would still like to get the guitar.
sw686blue Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 It is. I really would still like to get the guitar. What's the issue? Why isn't he shipping it? Or is he simply not communicating?
hamertek98 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Let us know! Did you at least get your money back? Any feedback?
DavidE Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Here's the story thus far:After not receiving the guitar after 14 days, I contacted the seller to find out what was going on. He responded a couple of days later that he was out of town on a job but left the guitar with someone to ship and that person didn't ship. Then he said he didn't have the money to ship the guitar and would ship it as soon as he got the money. I asked him what happened to the money I sent him to ship it and gave him advice on shipping at a reasonable cost.He next said he had a check to cash and would ship the guitar and provide me with a tracking number as soon as he cashed the check. I gave him 48 hours and tried to reach him again. I haven't heard from him since.I started a dispute with paypal and then filed a dispute with AMEX and they started a chargeback. My AMEX blue as a no internet fraud guarantee so the chargeback should stick.I'd still rather have the guitar, but it looks like that's not going to happen.
BubbaVO Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Wasn't there a policy on minimum posts before you can offer stuff on here? Or have we moved on to a more "caveat emptor" kind of thing. Seems like there have been a higher number of messy deals involving folks with hardly any posts.

Seems like there have been a higher number of messy deals involving folks with hardly any posts. It's ALWAYS a caveat emptor kind of thing, no matter who you're dealing with. There have been accusations among long standing HFCers about deals they felt went bad.
hamerican gigolo Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Sorry to hear that,Dave. It sux dealing with such folks. It's people like this that gives internet transactions a bad name.
veatch Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 At the very least, one of the admins should change his screen name from "neptune2" to "uranus1"...
cmatthes Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Seems like there have been a higher number of messy deals involving folks with hardly any posts.Really? This is the only truly messy recent deal by a "Hit-and-run" poster I can think of, and the other one of late (within the last 10-12 months) was from a poster with well over 5 years on the board and a few hundred posts, and that was bad due to a misleading description and huge difference in opinion regarding condition. Not much else "messy" really comes to mind, and we monitor this board on a daily basis. I certainly wouldn't call that a high number! I think the self-policing that the members do around here speaks for itself. I don't think that more than a couple HFC'ers have gotten ripped off in the last decade. Most of the people who are ONLY here to sell stuff are either pretty much straight-up individuals or they are the kind who spam and bump the same ads on every other gear-related site as well.
