fractal Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Not mine, but I might be in the market... Talladega on E-bay
elduave Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Did you see that feedback? Somebody won a PRS auction, didn't respond for 2 days (but he paid), so the seller sells it to someone else and then boasts about it like he's proud? Nice.
cmatthes Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Isn't that Flynn Guitars? I don't ever recall hearing anything bad about them before - that PRS sale seems surprising. They go WAY back with Hamer...
discountsounds Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Isn't that Flynn Guitars? I don't ever recall hearing anything bad about them before - that PRS sale seems surprising. They go WAY back with Hamer...Based on the user name and the city (Evanston), it looks like Flynn Guitars. I bought my Top Hat from them about 11 years ago, but every other time I went in there after that, the salespeople were real dicks. They scoffed at my questions, lied with at least one of their answers, sneered at my comments about some of the gear I tried and oftentimes outright ignored me. Fuck those guys.
bmenary Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Ok guys, your slamming my local guitar shop- I have known these guys for 20 years- They are probably one of the oldest Hamer dealers in the USA- the shop is 1 mile from the original Hamer shop. They are a good source for Hamers and vintage guitars and some high end amps like Carr. They have a great repair guy- They usually have 1 or 2 nice custom ordered Hamers and are very reasonable on pricing. Good people. They also have a great group of teachers and it is a great school to take your kid to learn how to play guitar/bass if you live in the area.
DaveL Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Regarding feedback... ebay is now breaking down feedback into a 12 month period.Even if you have say a 900-0-1 rating, if the neg was in the last 12 months and you onlyhad 10 transactions during that time, it can make you look like a total loser but thenagain, I think it reverts back to 100% after 12 months... I avoid sellers who post a smarmy comment in response to the negative. A store like Flynn should be more professional than that...
Lew Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I was watching that auction until I saw his reply on feedback
Kayaker Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I was watching that auction until I saw his reply on feedback Same here... as the saying goes, "mean people suck". Good guitar shop or not, if he welshed on a done deal he's not a nice guy, IMHO. But the Tally will probably go sky-high anyway ... or not meet the sky-high reserve, in any case, so I'm probably not missin' much.
MCChris Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 if the neg was in the last 12 months and you only had 10 transactions during that time, it can make you look like a total loserIt's this attitude about feedback that's made eBay the shithole it is today. If you deserved the negative, then you are a total loser, because you either misrepresented an item, didn't pack an item properly, or didn't communicate/ship/send payment expediently, if at all. If you didn't deserve the negative, it should be obvious to anyone with a brain that you got negged in a retaliatory fashion. Why would you want to do business with someone who can't recognize that anyway?eBay sucks.
Caddie Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I can't recall who it was, I'm sure that someone around here will recall the name, but this guy used the expression "I smell bologna fryin'! ". Wanna bet that either the buyer or the seller has the frying pan heating up on the burner as we speak.

kizanski Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 That would be Wyldbill R.I.P. We still miss him around here. Classic HFC lore if ever there was any!
Dumo Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Well it's like Mark Twain used to say: "There are 3 kinds of lies. Lies, damn lies and Ebay listings."
