iownit4 Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 A few months ago I posted a message that I was going to restore a old beater .. Many of u Hamer-Heads beg and pleaded not too ..but I didn't listen and I'm glad I didn't.. 1st I removed the paint and filled in some dings . then with help from a great guitar luithar in Ohio, AAron Henderson of LOWEL guitars , he removed the dots and put in crown inlays and bound the body Top and bound the neck .. Also check out the 12th fret nice checkerboad inlay .. and now AAron put the finish on there see through Blue looks like something u would want to swim in .. now I have too put back the sustain block and electronics with help from another good friend Mike Maggio from maggio's music shop in Bklyn.. I'm going to use a double cream Dimarzio in bridge and zebra in front.. two other guitar I will show at the end r custom handmade guitars from [email protected] les paul & telehttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/100_0042.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/100_0041.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/100_0039.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/100_0039.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/r3.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/hammer2.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/hammer1.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/hammer3.jpghttp://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/img_0001.jpg
David B Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 That is going to be so cool. You were right to have fun with that one. You sure got the right people to work on it.You spelled Hamer wrong though... HeHe!http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y110/iownit4/hammer3.jpg
kizanski Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I'm so f**king impressed, I don't even know what to say.
cmatthes Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Damn. That's about perfect. Where did you find that inlay guy?!
hamerhead Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I didn't want you to do it, but that just might be OK.
straightblues Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Very nice!!!! What did you have to spend to get that all done?
Craig Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 I've seen so many good ideas go bad that it's truly a pleasure to see that guitar come out so awesome!
iownit4 Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 all send and done I put about 500.00 into it with new pickups..
Guest Buck Dharma Posted July 10, 2005 Posted July 10, 2005 That guy who did your guitar also does the cabs for Bumbox Amps! I bought a Cielo 30 watt Plexi point to point amp from Nate who also is a great amp builder. He has a few pics of the Lowell guitars on his site, check out this cab Lowell built.Bumbox
iownit4 Posted July 10, 2005 Author Posted July 10, 2005 yeah thats right I spoke to Nate a few times ! He builds some nice amps , I've been thinking about getting a 30 watt head ..
iownit4 Posted July 12, 2005 Author Posted July 12, 2005 when it's complete I will post the finished product!!!!!
silentman Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Nice - did you re-top it or was there maple under the finish?
Guest Buck Dharma Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 yeah thats right I spoke to Nate a few times ! He builds some nice amps , I've been thinking about getting a 30 watt head .. Let me know if you decide to get a Cielo. My Cielo is way to much for what I need and I may sell it or trade for a smaller amp. It sounds great but is real loud. I don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks to get a hotplate. I'm not gonna be gigging anytime soon and it doesn't have a Master Volume so I have to use pedals to get the OD Marshall sound I like. It sounds fantastic cranked but were talkin ear damage in my basement through a Avatar 2x12.
Guest Buck Dharma Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 can u send pics to me of amp Yes I will take them and send them shortly. Mine is Black tolex with hand painted faceplate that's gold. I just listed it in the for sale section before I saw this reply. It does not have the Master volume but has the 2 channels jumpered internally with separate volume for each so you can dial in the tone. I upgraded the Svetlana tubes to JJ EL34L's and a JJ GZ34 rectifier which made it even louder. This amp sounds great but like I said it is way too much for me. I just play in my basement for fun but love the Marshall oldschool sound. I want to try and find a small amp with that sound that won't piss my wife off from being to loud. I am thinking of getting one of Nate's 1 watters even.

JJ Paul Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Iownit... I guess that this refin job puts you in the #2 slot for the TLC cup. #1 is still BCR I'm afraid - but you *are* a close second. I 'specially dig the idea of the checkerboard inlay on the 12th fret. Can your dude do another one? I'm getting a wicked idea for my import Black Vec'... teeheeheee.... JJ
HAMERMAN Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 From the original picture I would have never guessed such a nice top would come on that guitar.A head cabinet similar to that one shown done up in the same trans blue to match your guitar would be doubly sick! :-)
JohnnyB Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Was that flame maple top hiding under that solid white finish? If so, that would justify the stripping and re-fin right there!
BadgerDave Posted July 15, 2005 Posted July 15, 2005 Absoultely gorgeous! Congratulations on bringing a tired classic back to life. Perhaps a "Hamer Extreme Makeover DVD" series is in the works.I'd watch it.
iownit4 Posted July 15, 2005 Author Posted July 15, 2005 maybe I will make my own Hamer porn i will call it " my 12 INCH HAMER" LOL
