Guest pirateflynn Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Anybody know a guy named Bob?LINK
bubs_42 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Yea but he doesn't get around much.BOOO! LOL I just found this auction and was going to post it. This thing needs a Stikeover!
velorush Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 You can drop the F-bomb on eBay? Not that I would, but... I did not know that.Do all Bob's "accessories" (trash bag, trash, stained pillow, plaid shirt, etc.) come with Bob?
holLoWskull Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 HOLY SH!T!!! No joke, I have a very good friend who's wheelchair bound and just so happens to be named Bob! He has been asking me to help him find a good guitar for cheap, but has been looking at Squires and Epiphones as they're more in his price range. He wants to try learning guitar so bad, but because he is a quad he figures his only chance is slide (he has some very limited mobility in his fingers). I cannot believe the dumb luck that this guitar shows up on ebay. He has an awesome sense of humor and will totally appreciate the irony in this guitar. Damn if he can't swing it, I may have to buy it for him if and give it to him as a Christmas gift. I'd leave it as-is and won't change a single thing except new strings and set it up for slide for him!

ajoso Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 From the ebay posting: "Quadraplegic bob had a broken neck that was fixed professionally."Bob or the guitar?I know, I'm a sick puppy.
DaveL Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 it actually looks like a nice repair job... but the fact that it's got the repairand the missing pickup, and possibly the lacquer might be boogered under the sticker I'm just not sure I could justify the thing if it went any higher...

Steve Haynie Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 If holLoWskull is going to buy the guitar for a friend I will not bid. If the neck repair is good the price is great for a Special FM. The cosmetics can be cured.

Seriously, if you have a buddy looking and we could pool some resources, I think it is a win-win for everyone. That thing won't go for much $$ and we're probably half way there already. Let's make this happen! Good guitar Karma here, folks. Z
holLoWskull Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 Man, the HFC is a great place indeed. For all who have offered to contribute, I thank you on behalf of both myself and Bob. I'm blessed to still have a good job in this tough economy, so better you guys save your money to help out an HFC'er who may be having some tough times (say with health bills or something) or even make a donation to Ted to keep this this forum going as our 'community'. Obviously if somebody here really wants 'Bob' for themselves I wouldn't ask or expect them to stay out of the bidding, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping the guitar stays at or close to the amount it's currently opening at. As for my pal Bob, he has an amazing sense of humor especially considering he's been in a chair since he was 14 (he's 51 now). He will absolutely love this guitar and totally appreciate the humor in the situation (for instance I can say things to him like "you damn 'cappers are always getting the best parking spots!" and we can have a laugh about it). One of those things where you sometimes have to try to find humor in life when you're in a situation that really sucks. Anyway, I'm going to throw a bid on 'Bob' (the guitar) this weekend and hopefully in a couple weeks 'Quadriplegic Bob' will be Bob's 'new' slide guitar for years to come (just have to decide if he'll have to wait until Christmas or not).
