No words are necessary: :D

"Hello Jorge.

I regret to inform you the bass is not available for sale. I had the bass

hanging on a wall at a local dealers store on consignment and it sold there.

The dealer didn't inform me of this until very late last night when it was

too late for me to do anything about. The bass was sold on Saturday, Im

still trying to understand why he waited to call me, since this puts me in a

very awkward position with you.

I am not very experienced in ebay or dealing with guitar dealers. If this

has cuased you any inconvenience, I am truly, truly sorry. I see your

feedback is perfect and must be very important to you. I would be so

inclined to leave you positive feedback, in consideration of all of this.

I am trying to build up my feed back, and hope you will consider my

circumstances, in spite of your probable disappointment with this auction.

Thank you for your time, and understanding.

Sincerely,

Rocio Theresa Esquibel"

She used to post here occasionally. Not sure what the connection is with her and Tony Babylon, but she has/had a couple of Hamer 8s including an old one that needed some repairs or something. She needed an original 8 string bridge and posted looking for one, I responded (I have one from an old 4 digit 8 string) and she emailed a few times then disappeared.

I hate when that crap happens-that's bs.

Hell of a way to go about it!

If you want some cheap entertainment, read his feedback!

What's up with that "Private Feedback" bullshit?

ebaY users will "hide" their feedback when thir negatives get too high.

Usually, you'll see a user do this just before they get bounced off of ebaY.

It's all about a$$h0l3$ who are hiding their bad feedback. eBay should remove that "feature".

Why in God's name would you not mention that in the description? I've bid on items where the seller plainly said they reserved the right to cancel the auction if the item sold locally, and had such auctions cancelled on me. Frustrating, but I knew there was a chance of it happening going into it.

To not mention that and then back out because you sold it locally is inexcuseable.

Their rationale:

Feedback is each member’s reputation on eBay and is the foundation of trust on eBay. eBay understands that there may be times when a comment so undermines a member’s reputation that they believe they must hide it. Although eBay understand this, eBay also believes that transparency is one of the pillars of eBay. Members who hide feedback have the feedback score next to their User ID replaced with the term “private”. This tends to encourage potential buyers and sellers to more closely review the member’s feedback profile.

What a crock.

It should say,

"...and we are not responsible, nor do we give a sh!t, if you get royally f**ked!

Have a nice day.

You're on your own."

It looks like there are a couple HFCers who have purchased items from her in the past. That being said, she's also not new to eBay-she's been there since '01 according to her profile.

Did I say I hate that BS? I "won" an auction for a B12L last year at a killer price and got the same BS that it sold "the night before" the auction ended at a local shop. Yeah right, after being listed four times on eBay.

IF you are selling something on Ebay you have no damn business selling it in a shop on consignment simultaneously. Thats basic common sense not Ebay savvy. As far as posting feedback just be honest. Dont give positive or negative just explain the reason for the neutral feedback. I certainly wouldnt give this person a total pass on this. :D

who the heck is Tony Babylon??

Tony Babylon is probably the brother of the babbling idiot who launched that auction

Tony is a bass player from L.A., He is a pretty nice guy. I sold him my 85 Blades Bass a few years ago. Real smooth deal. He used to hang out here sometimes. I don't know if he still does or not.

He offered to sell me this bass at twice the price as it was listed for on ebay. It would be more than that if you ordered a new one.

I would have bought it but my van broke down a few days after he offered it up and I had to spend $1400 to fix it so that ended that deal.

I think the guy selling it thought he was gonna get a lot more on ebay but his feedback was so terrible no one bid on it.

I would have loved it at that price but was afraid the deal would go just like it did for you so I never bid.

I watched the auction at the end, I knew someone was going to jump on that price.

my opinion is that if they failed to mention *in the ebay listing* that the auction could get cancelled due to a local sale, then they deserve negative feedback for not following thru w/ the auction. its the same thing IMFO as posting the high bid then saying "oh, i found the same item locally, so i'm not buying yours". bullshit!!
