DaveL Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Here's a shot of a Charvel Style guitar that I'm working on. I'm using a KNE star body and a USA Charvel pro mod (strat head neck). I'll use a black Original Floyd Rose, Duncan JB and some brass hardware. The body is still at paint and still has some clear and buff to go... Photo courtesy of Stike.
zenmindbeginner Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 That looks AMAZING!!!Am I out of line or is Stike one of the world's best sparkle and flake finishers? I've never seen anything like his work, it is absolutely stellar! This might be the most awesome guitar finish ever...
DaveL Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 Some progress pics... I got it back yesterday... really happy with the finish work by Stike. Looks very factory and he did a great job masking the neck pocket and sinking the floyd anchors... So far everything fits... My chrome Floyd arrives today.
Jeff R Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Looking super cool! Later this year, I'm hoping to build me an alder Jackson Dinky clone with a couple of reverse slanted 'buckers (aka Centaura 2HB layout) and when I do, I'm gonna get Stike to shoot it "Infukkintense Dorothy's Slippers Ruby-Ass Glitterflake Red" ... or something of this nature. Edited to add ... look how good it looks with baby blue! LOL
DaveL Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 very cool Jeff, post pics when you get er done!!
zenmindbeginner Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 Flippin' AWESOME Dave! It is literally out of this world!! It looks like the most beautiful image that the Hubble never took. Please tell me that you are gonna be playin' some real spaced out music with that axe... lots of modulation, delays and filtering maybe? You're gonna be the new Starchild!
DaveL Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 thanks for the good words... yah, I'll be playin AC-DC, the stones and maybe some Judas priest on this baby... I got the idea for it from an 80's ad by either mighty mite or boogie bodies. They had a metallic blue star in guitar player, and I just remembered it... I stilll need to wire it up, but here's what I did tonight.
specialk Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Awesome! Glad you went with a maple board. r/w wouldn't look right.
Jeff R Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Man, that sucka looks tough! I'm chompin' at the bit to throw mine together now!
cmatthes Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 That looks fantastic. Can't wait to get my next thang back from Master Stike.Sparkles be cool.
serial Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Where'd you get that body? Looks freaking fantastic! I am very tempted to pick up something like that for all of the 80s stuff I'm doing with the new band.

NOW you're talkin'! That's looking awesome. I'm a huge fan of Star guitars- I play the black one for our Judas Priest and a few other 80's metal tunes. Have fun!

DaveL Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 KNE is great... they also do rear mount strat and EVH "Frankie" bodies... The strats/teles start at $109 (alder) and the stars are $20 more. They build to order and ship in about 3 days. can't really beat that. musikraft is also very good with the charvel type stuff. If you do build one of these puppies, just be awareof the neck heel size/pocket size... my charvel pro mod neck has a 2 and 1/4" heel so I had to specifically requestthat pocket... Both KNE and musikraft can do it. Diablo, those are COOL... that yellow one is especially bangin.
cmatthes Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Totally agree - with DaveL on that Hellayella one! Also that the Musikraft stuff is out of this world. Seems to be a little more expensive than KNE, but Jim has been FANTASTIC to work with and everything I've purchased from them has been flawless.
