eightyfour Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Received as a debt repay, either this or three fingers, he chose giving up the bass. I don't play bass, and I hate green so this one has deal written all over it. It is one of the original lim ed Dargie Stingray 4-strings from '07 I think, not one of the newer prod models. All orig, perfectly clean, and with ohsc. I will get pix up as soon as possible. Looking for: Jr., interesting and unusual Hamers, Acoustic, Vox AC30, Victoria amps, Fulltone toe-tappers, Robin, Fender Cust Shop stuff, any Gibson, or: High end cycling gear road or cyclo-cross, fly-fishing stuff, airline tix, ballgame/sports tix, vintage firearms, photography gear, or any other cool trade stuff. 7/3/10: Thank you all for your patience, I receive the HFC dumbass award for posting without all the info nor pix. Hopefully this is a bit more thorough. I spoke with EBMM cust serv and confirmed that per the sn# this is a Sterling bass in the original limited run Dargie Delight motif dated 4/5/07. They are unable to confirm the exact number of basses with this exact configuration, but speculate that it is very few. The run was a brief open order window, rather than a set number of units. The bass is indeed in nearly perfect as new condition, as is the original case. I am having the bass professionally set up this afternoon, given that I am clueless with that stuff. Please do not hesitate to pm or e-mail me with any questions you may have. Thanks fellas. Happy 4th to ya'll. -Jay Entire album: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v157/eig...terling%20Bass/

eightyfour Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 If you find out who Dargie is, please inform me.
Feynman Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Does it have the olives? Those are very cool inlays.
eightyfour Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Does it have the olives? Those are very cool inlays. No sir, martini glass inlays.
Feynman Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Sorry - I was unclear, and I'm far from knowing the differences in the Dargies over time. I thought I read that some martini glasses had olives and some didn't. There's a really high chance I am imagining that though. Dargie is Scott "Dargin" Ball, Sterling's son. I'm sure one of our resident EBMM experts will weigh in with better data. From a more knowledgeable site: "The Dargie Delight was a special offering from EBMM. The idea was hatched on the Ernie Ball forum. A forum moderator and close friend of Sterling Ball was ga-ga over a Martini Olive Green Bongo Bass owned by his son, Scott Ball (Dargin). Sterling would make fun of the color and the fact that his friend would want a bass in such a stupid color. This inspired Sterling to at first offer to build a run of MOG Bongos. The idea took off on the forum and Sterling offered it out to most of the EBMM bass and guitar models, thus, the Dargie was born. The finish is called Martini Olive Green and the fret marker inlays are martini glasses complete with olive! A tasty, black "Dargie Delight" silkscreen adorns the back just below the neckplate."
eightyfour Posted June 19, 2010 Author Posted June 19, 2010 Feynman, thank you for the research. Most appreciated!
specialk Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Does it have the olives? Those are very cool inlays. No sir, martini glass inlays. So do the martini glasses have the olives in them?
eightyfour Posted June 20, 2010 Author Posted June 20, 2010 Ok, whooaaaa, hold the presses! Apparently, this is not a Stingray, but it is called a Sub bass. It has active electronics, 1 of only 13 made of this model, mint cond, and yes the martini glass has the olive in it. Comes with all case candy. Pix up soon, soon as I can mooch a digital camera. More to come.
hamerboy_ Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 It's definetly not a SUB. SUB's were a budget line (American made) with black painted necks and a textured finish on the body. The one Chris posted is a 2HB Stingray. And it's delicious!-Bobby
hamertek98 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 These go from $1100.00 to 1300.00 in great shape. The Dargies are cool! Want any guitars? You need to put this on the EBMM forum! The price is all over because there wasn't that many made. If I was working.... this wold be a SOLD ad! HH anything MM is badass! I want this SOOO bad! My LE Sterling Rocks!

eightyfour Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 I'm traveling this week and will repost a complete and thorough ad with real pictures etc when I get home. Till then, here is a crappy cell-phone pic e-mailed to me by my better half of the actual bass. Thanks for the patience and all of your input.

Hamerweizen Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 That thing is cool - never seen one like it.As noted, it is not a SUB. I have a SUB - body is textured black, has a "diamond plate" pickguard, and body is not contoured. Nice bass, but it isn't that green martini monster.
