BadgerDave Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 It's time to sell off some of the guitars I've assembled over the past few years. These are Strat and Tele clones with combinations of Warmoth and Fender bodies and necks and really top-end hardware and electronics. Without being too self-contratulatory, I'll say that these exceed Fender USA production guitars in quality of materials. In some cases, I've really pushed the envelope on wood quality and components to the point that I'd risk comparing them to Custom Shop and boutique brands. A few members of this board can vouch for the setup, fret dressing and detail work that I put into these. I will tweak them into perfect playing shape before shipping including fresh strings, strobe tuning the intonation and adjusting the action to "ALAPWOB" or any other action the buyer prefers. I'll start with a really nice gigging guitar featuring a Warmoth USA body and neck, rosewood board, a Callaham bridge/trem with stringsaver saddles, Lollar pickups (Duncan humbucker in the bridge, I'll include the Lollar bridge pickup as well) Planet Waves locking tuners and a Harley Davidson neck plate. If you don't like the checkerboard pickguard, I can substitute a black or white pearl one. Plays and sounds better than most $3K Fender Custom Shop Strats (no BS). I bought the neck used. It feels like a '59 roundback carve, compound radius and medium jumbo frets. Very light satin or possibly no finish on the back of the neck. It feels great, has slight flame figuring, and is slightly darkened from playing. Fake headstock decal $700 w/o case plus $30.00 shipping in the US, $50 to Canada. PayPal OK, ad 3%
DavidE Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 nice....waiting to see the others... He is quite a tease... ;-)
Scottcrud Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 What else? I can hardly stand the anticipation!
Citrus Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 waitin for one of the seafoam green thingys or one with them filtertron thingys in em
Jeff R Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I will vouch for Badger Dave's attention to EVERYTHING when he throws these bastardcasters together. I played a double bound black Tele he threw together at my first 4-3-2-1 Jam, and I lost count of how many times I asked him to sell it to me.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Here's a quick snapshot of what I have. I'm taking Thursday and Friday off this week, so I can dedicate Thursday AM to taking photos. Let me know if you want anything in particular. I'm trying to raise $ to sell my townhouse (Yes, the current market has eroded away my 25% down payment and then some, so I'll end up coughing up cash when I sell ). Therefore, I'm unlikely to go for any trade offers unless it's something I can flip quickly on ebay for a profit. e-mail or PM with questions. I'll have details and prices up within a day or two.
specialk Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I want the entire bottom row. I just can't afford it.
JGale Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Whaaa Whaaa. That's me crying because my SO would string me up by the cojones if I bought even one of them.Whaaa!
hamerhead Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 That is some tasty stuff right there. Love the Strat on the top right.
atquinn Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The Tele with the minihumbucker in the neck is making my nether-parts tingle -Austin
BadJaxx Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The Tele with the minihumbucker in the neck is making my nether-parts tingle -Austin you may have to settle for sloppy seconds...
Pieman Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The Tele with the minihumbucker in the neck is making my nether-parts tingle What is that? Those don't look like dot markers.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 The Tele with the minihumbucker in the neck is making my nether-parts tingle What is that? Those don't look like dot markers. Diamonds. And matching pearloid body and neck binding.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Here are photos of the black Tele that I took prior to removing the Hipshot Drop D/G bender/B bender tailpiece and hip lever. The Hipshot unit attached via the strap button - no holes are drilled. The unit has a felt pad where it touches the body, so there are no marks. The bridge is specially drilled to accomodate the bender unit, so it too has been removed and replaced with a Joe Barden bridge and pickup with compensated brass saddles. This one has a Warmoth body and neck and a Lollar neck pickup. The neck is pretty spectacular: ebony compound radius board with stainless steel 6105 frets, pearloid markers and binding a '59 profile and a wildly figured flame maple. The tuners are Gotoh adjustable pole locking units that eliminate the need for a string tree. It also has a graphite nut to facilitate the bender (or behind the nut bends). I'm going to price all of these w/o cases because I have a variety - from rigid foam to alligator tolex hardshell. Buyers can choose - prices from $50.00 to $200.00 For this one I'm looking for $1,200.00 Add $150 if you want me to include and re-install the Hipshot system. $50.00 shipping, add 3% for PayPal.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Here are photos that I've posted previously of the Seafoam Green Tele Thinline. This guitar has a real Fender Custom Shop neck, with the original Fender logo and Cusom Shop decal under the finish. The neck profile is on the thinner side of medium. Not shredder thin, though. The body is Warmoth with double pearloid binding. Pickups are an Harmonic Design with pearloid cover in the neck position and a Fralin Blues Special bridge. The top photo more accuratey represents the true color of the finish. I need $1,000.00 for this one, case extra, add $50 for shipping, 3% for PayPal.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 The Green Sparkle "Strat". ESP Body finished by Stike, Warmoth SRV profile neck, highly figured flame maple, active EMG pickups. Bridge is locked down and may need some tweaking if you want it to float. Trem handle is included. $1,000.00 w/o case, $50 for shipping, 3% for PayPal.
Stike Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Coolest Tele ever. Lack of funds and needing another guitar like a hole in the head prevents me from taking it off your hands. Hate to see the teal ESP didn't make the cut.
BadgerDave Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Coolest Tele ever. Lack of funds and needing another guitar like a hole in the head prevents me from taking it off your hands. Hate to see the teal ESP didn't make the cut. I made the very difficult decision to limit myself to one "Strat" and one "Tele" until the urge to build once more overcomes my financial better judgment. On the Strat side, the Grease Fire tugs at my heartstrings like an ugly three legged puppy and I can't resist.
Jeff R Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 The black tele is the one I nearly crapped me pants over in Minneapolis. VERY nice guitar under the bling.
BadgerDave Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Adding current photos of the black Tele showing the Joe Barden bridge and pickup:
BadgerDave Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Here are photos of the Flame Sparkle Tele. The body was built and painted by Tony De Lacugo. The neck is a Warmoth standard profile single piece highly flamed maple with a vintage tint finish and abalone dot markers. The frets are stainless steel medium jumbo. Hardware is gold with a Hipshot bridge, Joe Barden pickups and Gotoh adjustable height locking tuners. This one is truly "mint and pristine" with no wear. $1,000.00, $50 shipping, add 3% for PayPal.
BadgerDave Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 Here's another! Warmoth body, amber transparent finish, figured maple top over alder. The neck is a Warmoth SRV profile, compound radius, highly flamed maple with a pau ferro board. Frets are medum jumbo, tuners are Gotoh, Hipshot bridge. The electronics are Fender's samarium cobalt noiseless with the S-1 switching system. There is a very clever switch built into the volume knob that allows for lots of combinations not possible with regular wiring systems. This one has a small amount of cosmetic wear on the pickguard and the back of the body. Not much and nothing through the finish, but it's not mint. A very versitle guitar played and endorsed by HFC celebrity McChris! The first person to offer me $800 gets this one. U.S. shipping $50.00 add 3% for PayPal.
MCChris Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 I was waiting for you to post this one.The first person to offer me $800 gets this one. U.S. shipping $50.00 add 3% for PayPal.Ridiculous price on a sick, sick guitar.
BadgerDave Posted August 4, 2010 Author Posted August 4, 2010 This one is the sleeper of the group! Fender USA body, Warmoth "Fatback" plain maple neck with a rosewood board, big frets and a very versitile combination of pickups. It has a Rio Muy Grande humbucker in the bridge that splits to a single coil by pulling up on the tone knob, A Rio Tallboy Strat pickup in the middle and a Fralin Tele neck pickup. I used a Strat 5-way selector to get those quacky in-between sounds in positions 2 and 4. Beware - the neck on this guitar is BIG! 1" thick from nut to heel. Not a lot of boutiqey stuff on this one, just high quality plain wood and solid hardware and electronics. I'm pricing it well, too. Give me $600.00 and it's yours. $50.00 shipping in U.S., add 3% for PayPal.
