kenjones Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I am remodeling my office and thought I might hang 3-4 guitars on one wall.I looked online and there are lots of different hangers available. What is your favorite hanger and why? Thanks.
Thundernotes Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I like the Hercules because of the auto-grab feature and the fact I have three of their models (wall, single, and triple) that have always worked flawlesslyhttp://www.amazon.com/Hercules-GSP38WB-Gui...5190&sr=1-2
atquinn Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I have the Hercules as well (along with one of their triple stands). It works great, but you have to use a little finesse to get guitar with locking nuts in there.-Austin
Armitage Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 I've seen lots of guitars with scuff marks from Hercules stands... unless you live beside train tracks, just learn to hang your guitar straight. http://www.amazon.com/String-Swing-Hardwoo.../ref=pd_cp_MI_2 The String Swing is great, and allows two screws into the stud. How clumsy is someone to knock their guitar out of this?
atquinn Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 How clumsy is someone to knock their guitar out of this? How clumsy is my 3 year old you mean! The answer: very. Not a problem with my Hercules wall hanger; there's no way the guitar is coming out once it's in there. And it has 2 screws holes too (I can't imagine any wall hanger that wouldn't). Finally, no scuff marks on any of my guitars, but then I baby them. Which is why I use Hercules stands -Austin
hamerhead Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 And - regardless of which one you get - screw it TO A STUD!!! Those crappy plastic anchors ain't gonna cut it.
fruhike Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 The string swing are nice and come in different hard wood colors. I got some dark walnut for my downstairs TV room. Look great. Acoustics are OK without a stud - I got better wall anchors though. All my electrics are hung on studs. For those I have fret rest. Both work well.http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/pro...ger-?sku=450357
kenjones Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Thanks for all your replies. My office is a video editing suite and is painted in mostly gray and black. I think I will get some of the black/metal String Swings.
thecajunboy Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Yo Ken, I ain't nevah hung no guitar on a wall hangah, but............................I did help a friend out that wanted to hand some gits in his home studio. Rather than depending on stud placement to install the hangers, I fashioned up a nice fluted brazillian cherry board about six or so feet long. I designed a nifty way to install to the wall so that all the fasteners were hidden, several studs could be used for anchoring, and he could space the hangers anywhere along the span of the board. Came out really nice. Moral of the story?Don't let your wall dictate how you hang.
landon w Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Thanks for all your replies. My office is a video editing suite and is painted in mostly gray and black. But ive been using the string swing for years. Never knocked one off. I like that they are so low profile to the wall and very stable. +1 on screwing to the stud

Cherry is one of my favorite woods) Whatever you do, on any hanging stand, be sure to periodically check the foam rubber (or whatever they use) on the hanger for splits. It will eventually wear and can leave marks on the neck. I had a hanging stand for a V that did that back in the day, though i'm sure the quality of stands has improved in the past 35 years. Or maybe not...
SteveB Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 Thanks for all your replies. My office is a video editing suite and is painted in mostly gray and black. I think I will get some of the black/metal String Swings. I used string swings, they work great. You'd have to try pretty hard to knock a guitar out of one of those as long as the stoppers are on the ends.
velorush Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hey, just saw this. Creepy! , too. Edited to add video link.
gorch Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Just got them mounted yesterday. Buy one of these too.
