Abaco Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Hey guys and dolls. Does anybody here have a good online source for buying their strings? I go through strings often enough that I have to go to the store repeatedly to buy their overpriced strings. I'm playing Ernie Ball Hybrids. Probably will buy them by the box - how many sets in a box? I imagine I can get them online for $3-something a set. Thanks
kurtsstuff Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Can't help ya...I usually support my locally owned and operated stores...
unfun 75 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Musician's Friend has free shipping for orders over $29 right now. That may be a good option.
Jamie K Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 http://www.stringitup.com/index.htmlI like these folks. While I buy most stuff locally, unique strings (like DR Zebras) can't usually be found within a 40 mile radius.Jamie
BCR Greg Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I do case pricing and shipping and I am a little guy store.
tafkathundernotes Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Juststrings.com is about 500 yards from me. Now I don't know what to do. Are they the local guy?
MCChris Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 http://www.juststrings.com Holy crap. WAY overpriced!
anotherfreak2 Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 If you are buying in those(box) quantities, Im sure any local shop will get close if not match prices. Probably not on single sets. you definately get more love from a brick an mortar store box qtys are usually 10-12 sets depending on brand, and 4-6 sets for bass per box.
Jeroen Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 JustStringsDong bussiness with them for years, always order from Sandra Hardy... have a special agreement with them!!!Jeroen
Abaco Posted August 29, 2005 Author Posted August 29, 2005 Thanks guys. Actually, I'm going to my local, small store and ask him to sell me a box at a price close to what I can get online. See, you got me thinking.
hamertek98 Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 I haven't read all the string responses. I buy my strings off a store thats a half an hour away. Small store. I load my dog in the jeep and away we go. We buy strings and a little other things. I don't buy stuff we don't need. One thing I can guarantee.... what we buy goes a long way. There's a lot to be said about a small store. One thread I saw said the P.A. went out. I've got friends that will give me a key to a store if I needed it. I'll pay a little more for strings to get the service I couldn't live without. There's a lot of great dealers here!!!
hamerhead Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 D'Addario sells in bulk. 25 sets in a box for $60. They usually sell for around $5-$6 per set, so that's a pretty decent deal.
killerteddybear Posted August 29, 2005 Posted August 29, 2005 Someone tell me where I can set a set of Thomastik flatwounds for 5-string bass without pimping out my daughter...
Abaco Posted August 30, 2005 Author Posted August 30, 2005 Some people will never learn Yeah, thanks.
