Stupid cheap for a Max. If I wasn't going to Chicago this week, I'd have snagged that one!

Still pretty cheap at $405 with a half hour to go....

BTW, Not mine and I have no affiliation to it.

Still ridiculously cheap with less than 15 minutes to go...

Chris,

I meant to ask earlier. What model is the "Max"? Sorry for a stupid question, I just wasn't sure what model Hamer bass this is. Thanks for any info!

The Chaparral Max Bass had an ebony board w/boomers on a set neck.

I have the same thing with rosewood and dots.

I took a swing at it. Tried to keep it in the family. Someday I'd love to find one of these, in perfect condition.

specialk, it's a Chapparal bass, but with the ebony fretboard, fancy inlays and flame/quilt body option, it was known as the Chapparal Max.

I saw one of these once, hanging in a guitar shop in my area, sometime in the early 90's. Quite stunning in person.

Thanks for clarifying the Max moniker, guys!

The bass was a little beat up, but still looked like a good one for the money. I hope someone here got it.

Damn, that's a looker! Of course, another auction ending in the middle of the workday...

I'm curious, anybody know what kind of pickups those are? I'm guessing that the bridge is a EMG? Is it a passive or active P/U bass?

Plus side, it's solid maple, easy to fix any blemishes, so I'm told. Negative side, no case plus I'd bet it'd be plenty bright sounding--a toss up depending on what you'd want.

Sometimes the NR doesn't work. That's alot of bass for half of what it should have gone for.

Actually that's what I don't understand either.

Not long ago Chap Max Basses easily move for over 900 bucks quick.

Is that a 'pawn shop' discount?

Always thought 'bubs' bass doesn't move cause of the spinner modification and so not being

full original anymore ...

Not that I don't like the spinner thing ...

that bass did not have the right title, the awful white balance in the pictures made it look ugly, it was sold by a pawnshop etc.. no chance
