But don't forget the guilty, Greg.

Remind yourself everyday and reflect on "Why we are here".

I will never forget that day...I was there ! Working , I'm a cop in nyc for 10 years ,at the time did daytours ,remember how the job came over the police radio, first came over as a small plane hit the top of one twin towers.a little while later boom the 2nd one ..I was about a mile away at that time ,then the radio dispatcher stated the 2nd tower was hit !! thats when I was moblized to go there .. I was posted out side the twin towers about two blocks away ,they were not sure what to do with uo,,they had tons of fire department guys running in the buildings ,but they had to run up 80 flights of stairs in smoke and water from the sprinkler system, thats when the 2nd tower that got ATTACKED came down.....I can't tell u people how I felt went I saw those buildings coming down. I ran, we all ran for a lifes ,the radio was dead silent for about 3 minutes after that,,then the dispacher came back on ,and the big brass from the NYPD and FDNY was giving orders for tower # 1 personal to get out ,but many of the cops and fire deppartment radios were not functioning ..we don't no why and then u guys know what happened !! I lost a many friends and co workers that day,one of my good friends Joe Riena who was on the 111 floor of tower #2 who left behind his wife who was 6 months preg..and later had the bady that year Joe jr..I remember that day like it was an hour ago , I could still smell it and taste it, it's weird I remember watch all the people running through the streets after both buildings were down, most people were in shock crying , we were all covered in this white shit ,,I was there for about 72 hrs straight .. I remember the first time I spoke to my MOM after it happened ,cause most cell phones were down ,she was worried to say the least. Most cops and fireman were there for months after that on clean up and recovery missions..I lot of guys need therapy and were going through tough times ,the Fire department lost 300 men . I have a different at look on life now !u never know !! I'm going to work to day around 3:00 pm and I work about a mile away from ground zero, I will take a ride buy and say a pray ...

I'm actually flying out of DC's Reagan National this morning - I'll pass the Pentagon and the memorial events they're holding there.

That was one of the strangest days in my life. I only know two people who were involved in that attack - one at the Pentagon lived through it, one in Tower #2 did not.

Don't know how you feel about the military but I'm active duty Navy stationed in New london, CT (Yes I'm a bubblehead). Right now I'm teaching navigation to officers at the Submarine Officer Warfare Center but will be going back to a sub at the end of the year. I have talked to alot of guys who have had to go over to the Gulf during Desert Storm and the current war and I feel for them. That's alot of family separation time. It sucks but we do what we are told.

I really feel for the ground troops over there. They need our support cause it's not a very nice place to be.

Remember the people who died in 01 and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country since then.

I still remember smelling the towers burning. Someone I dated was the only one who made it out off the 104th floor of one tower and has never been the same since.

My kid brother was late for his morning meeting at the Pentagon where the plane hit and spared (guess it was his payback for being "born again") As fate would have it, my brother ended up in Yemen last year as the senior US Navy guy in charge of the USS Cole bombong trial where they all got death/life term verdicts. The embassy there actually flew a US flag for him that he was presented.

My wife lost an Uncle on flight 175 which hit tower 2. I still cannot imagine what that trip must have been like for him. He was one of the good people who had a love for life and everyone around him.

Although "Never Forget" has been used time and time again, it is always appropriate when speaking of that day. I got a weird chill yesterday morning stepping outside on a perfectly clear, cool September morning that was exactly like 9/11 was. There are greater more important things in life than most of the silly bullshit that we allow ourselves to be consumed with daily. 9/11 and Katrina are vivid reminders of this.
