crunchee Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Holy Crap, that's an AMAZING transformation on that fingerboard! I am in awe of Jay's handiwork!
serial Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 I prefer the "after" pic on the Jag. Beautiful work, mate!
LordsoftheJungle Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Man I would play the everloving shit out of the Strat... As would I! That is totally bad-ass!! An also fucking outstanding! Holy shit that is awesome. LOTT seems to have excellent taste in guitars, and clearly Murkat can deliver the vision and then some. Man, that is maybe the coolest guitar I've seen here in a long time. Thank you Sir,,, it seems you and I share many of the same tastes with electric guitars (LOTT = LOTJ). Like Jay said, this thing is a monster,,,, a real Jekyll and Hyde with the 5-way switch and a revelation as to how volume and tone pots should work on a guitar. The sneaky floating trem rounds out a nice list of extras that I will be exploring for a while. It pays to have a guitar guru in your corner.
bcsride Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Hey Jay, As an owner of a '65 Jag, I'd love to see some updated photos of that Jaguar with the needs-love fingerboard. Whadyasay? Bill poor jag was a mess, being a veneer rosewood fretboard and at 7.25 radius did not help either... Amazing, just amazing. The 2nd law of thermodynamics has been violated.
murkat Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 Here's the Kill...The guy bought it at a salvation Army second hand store, hanging in a window for six dollars, He haggled them down to $5. out the door. When I took it down apart, I contacted him that the original finish was 3 tone sunburst, then factory re shot over with shoreline gold.I put together a quote for him to re shoot the Gold (thanks Stike), but the client likes the natural look. So, I eased him into re top coating and wet sand and buff out all the brush strokes, etc.All in all, great guitar. the neck pickup just killed.
kizanski Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 ...hanging in a window for six dollars, He haggled them down to $5. out the door. Christ. Some people just can't pay the asking price for ANYTHING, regardless of how cheap (in this case, free, for all intents and purposes) it is. What's the matter? Couldn't stand to give the Salvation Army another dollar?
cmatthes Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Seriously.I would have paid them at least a $20 and told them to keep the change!
Feynman Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 (LOTT=LOTJ) Oops - that's what I meant! Of course, LOTT has superb tastes as well.
veatch Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 (LOTT=LOTJ) Oops - that's what I meant! Of course, LOTT has superb tastes as well. I'd blame it on the new avatar...
