it's legit.

but..

post 2011, all is compromised from the plant. all of it.

for that coin, hit up G-man's Les Paul standard on the FS section.

way better LP than what is out there post 2011.

What do you mean by compromised?

Well, he no longer works there, so that's compromised already.

Well, that too ;)

Henry being sought out for by someone who he pissed off in the Gov. (He does that quite frequently)

Tone woods extremely limited, If any, and if they do have, they go to the GCS.

"Mahogany" is Asian young forest harvest, small trees. Butcher block pieces under the paint if at that...

Fretboards, if rosewood, it is just a veneer of. try to refret that shit.

CPA is all plug in play.

General labor force. Handicap people do a better job at Rice IND.

I can go on...

Not much of a savings from the CL listing. You can buy a http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Les-Paul-Classic-Custom-Electric-Guitar-107282667-i2172129.gc?source=4WWRWXGP&cagpspn=pla'>new one for $1599, and a new http://www.zzounds.com/item--GIBLPCCT'>scratch'n'dent for $1499

It's also cheaper to have acrylic FB inlays than MOP.

Thanks for the insight Murkat. I've been trying to sell my '03 SG with no luck (why buy it when you can get a new one cheaper) so I've been trying to understand how they got the new ones so cheap. I guess I'll just need to stick it in the back of the closet until after the dust settles from where this industry seems to be heading.

that's real, as others have said.

also, if you are selling a guitar, I would just let it sit unless you need to move it. With all the sales going on, and Gibson slashing prices, you're gonna have trouble moving anything until at least Feb or March. for most people they aren't going to care if the Gibson's made now are inferior to the ones made only 5 years ago. They are just looking for a deal.

Yup - wait until May or June, actually - get past tax season, and maybe find someone that got a tax return...

Maybe the payback will come after this wave of product has been bought, tried, and found wanting. It took awhile after the CBS takeover of Fender before people started seeking out "pre-CBS" guitars and amps and paying premium prices for them.

When I moved to Fullerton in 1973, blackface Twins were going for $550 on the used market. That's $2745 today, and they were still fairly new and abundantly available.
