gtone Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Never owned a phase pedal, only rack units with phase shifting capability. What's a good value, high quality phase pedal to consider from the many models out there?
Armitage Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 The Retro-Sonic Phaser is based on the classic 4 stage Script Logo Phase 90 circuit with a few additions for a more versatile pedal, most importantly for me, True Bypass, no tone sucking when off. Along with the Rate, the Retro-Sonic Phaser has a Depth control which allows you to dial in the intensity of the effect, as well as a level control to match unity gain, or even provide a little boost if desired. And a matched set of FETs for the best possible phasing experience.
gtone Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks for the link Steve - never thought Gorch ran virtually the same thread a couple of months ago. Damn - shoulda figured and hit the "search" function...

This. The Red Witch Moon phaser is really tits, too, but spendy ($300) new.
zzzdat Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I had an original Electro harmonix small stone that sounded great.I haven't heard the new ones. It was a very simple machine.Cool BeansGene
Bobby Marshall Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I don't know if they still sell new but the 74 reissue mxr phase 90 has the sound. Does what you need. One knob (not counting the user). And its orange. The perfect pedal.
Disturber Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 A vintage EH Small Stone and a vintage script logo phase 90. Or the script reissue phase 90 - haven't tried it but from what I've read about it it's good. That's all you need.
gorch Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Recently I had bought the Mooer phaser pedal and love it. It's got a nice video on UTB. Great size and tone.See here:http://www.hamerfanclub.com/forums/topic/58078-whats-the-hamer-of-phasers/?hl=mooer
gtone Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 Thanks for your responses all and sorry again for my newbishness!
hamersandstrats Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I love the Maxon PH350, although I think it is out of production. Very wide range of tones. Also, from videos online, the Keeley Phaser with the ramp up feature sounds great-this may be my next phaser purchase.

gtone Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Wound up trading a CMATMODS Brownie I acquired by way of a trade for a newer MXR Phase100. We'll see how that works out, but I'm sure I was spoiled by the tweakability of the Korg SDD-2000 rack unit I used to have.
