mrjamiam Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 No affiliation, and I'm no expert, but that looks like 4 digits to me:http://www.ebay.com/itm/hamer-12-strings-guitar-bass-/231117865218?pt=Guitar&hash=item35cfb2c102
Andrew Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 #0408 it looks like - definitely a four digit, from 1980-ish given the single X2N pickup.Maple body and mahogany neck with single russ-rod, usually.
unfun75 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Some info would have been nice. Cue MCChris... ebay sucks.
mc2 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 PROCEED WITH GREAT CAUTION!!!!!I dealt with this clown for months about a year or so ago. He was selling "for a friend" and his info and pics were suspicious.I even spoke with him on the phone.....ONLY WOULD ACCEPT CASH OR MONEY ORDER.....despite sending me the link to his "family business" of selling military surplus stuff that clearly accepted credit cards, he flatly refused to take a CC or a PayPal debit card.He told me the bass was not even in his possession, so he could not get more photos or answer questions.Also....the bass was first advertised as having been sitting for decades missing a lot of the strings....VERY bad for an old, single-truss rod Hamer 12ver.THEN....it turned up on EBAY. The first time missing the many strings and same crappy photos as used on Craigs List.I put a bid on it...then it got bid up super high by one bidder who then pulled all his bids the day before the auction ended....then shortly before the end the same bidder bid it up over the Buy It Now ($3000+ that time) when it was too late to cancel my bid. I emailed the seller and other bidder that he could take the win.....but the " winner" emailed that he didn't want it. So seemed bogus and told the seller to stuff it, unless he wanted to,sell it for the price without the bogus shill increase bid. He refused.AGAIN...it was relished and sold for the high number around $3000 a few weeks later last year. This is the SAME SELLER, so apparently that sale was also bogus and he seems to have laid back hoping after half a year no one will remember that he seems to be a scamming POS.I have his name and website on my other computer and will dig it up....think his name was Hassim or something.Also...look close at his Feedback....a handful of cheap-o sales...THEN a five year gap...then two cheap-o sales....and NO MENTION of either of the prior bogus sales of this bass?? Hmmmmm,So, bid away....but be forewarned.(No relation to seller!!!)
andrew m Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 mc2 is right on. BE VERY AWARE. I am local to the seller and have sent numerous emails stating my knowledge of these basses , that I am more that interested, and also that I am local. Have not received 1 reply. Not too sure what his intent is, but be very cautious. If any of you do get a resonable reply from him, I am more that welcome to check it out on your behalf. Have no problem going inognito or under cover for all of you.He has been on the local craigslist for at least the past year.
Hamer Dave Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Ditto. I remember this a while ago. I reached out to him as well.
carfish7 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This place is great. Nice job exposing a potential nightmare for anyone interested! As they say in my old hood; "good lookin' out!"
Hamerica Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I think I have seen this one and a thread regarding it not too long ago. Thanks for the reminders. Hamerica
mc2 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 We should form a "Hamer Hit Squad" for these type of clowns and whichever HFC member is in the same town would get the job of anonymously showing up to check out the axe and then beat the seller with an official Hamer guitar neck We could ship the official neck to each member, as needed, along with a HFC cape with magical powers that sniffs out the BS factor.
cmatthes Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Add the dickwad with that gold/black Granite "Holly Grail" Cali Deluxe to that list!

I am in. We could use a neck with the boomer in lays removed so it would leave an nice permanent imprint!
ARM OF HAMER Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This guy should be "BOUND AND CROWNED"!!!!!!!!!
carfish7 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This guy should be "BOUND AND CROWNED"!!!!!!!!! Pure genius!
tomteriffic Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 This guy should be "BOUND AND CROWNED"!!!!!!!!! BWAHAHAHAH!!! Brilliant!
mc2 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Hey "andrew m"......I checked out your offer of a local pickup. I emailed this douchebag and told him I have a friend in the same town as him who can drop cash and pick up the bass, if I won the auction.....AND HE FLATLY REFUSED!!!!! Said NO WAY. PayPal and SHIP ONLY. He remembered me from my prior email and phone conversations...so not like a total stramger was asking out of the blue, which makes it more suspicious. I told him this is still sounds like a scam.....refused my PayPal CC when it was on Craigs List 18 months ago....shill bidder doubles the price at end of first auction and the shill refuses to buy bass at that price....second auction sells it again high and now it shows up for sale again by same guy around nine months later...and he refuses a local pickup with cash for a buyer to examine the bass????? Time for "Hamer Man" to show up and beat him with a hockey neck and leave a boomer welt in his forehead

I sent 2 more e mails from my work e maill addy ( obviously states company and loctaion in my signature) and again, No response. How do knobs like this still exisist, let alone (suppossedly) own gear like the 12 strings. I will let all you know if i hear from him. Or at least if "Hamer Man" does. A
Hamer Dave Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 So, who got it? 2202.99Only one other bidder. Otherwise, would have went for the opening bid.
Bobby Marshall Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Whoever it was will be hugely disappointed.Big price for an unplayable musical instrument.
cmatthes Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 I have a strong feeling we'll be seeing that one for sale again...from the same seller.
mc2 Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Yeah...would be shocked if that legitimately sold and doesn't reappear from the same seller again down the road.
Shark Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Seems like a member of the 'The Last Bass Outpost' Forum got it. www.bassoutpost.comThere are some posts about it in the 'Gear For Sale Section' which is visible for members only.

If there's more chatter about it once it arrives to the buyer, and if you feel disposed to report on it, I know I for one would be interested to hear it. This thread has turned into a good educational experience for me, at least. Much obliged to all the posters!
