Long Scale Les Paul?

At the Music Zoo, a 25.5" scale (CS) Les Paul. Anyone ever try one? I love a 25.5" scale, but I didn't know about these. There's that Buckethead (apologies if I got his stage name wrong, I mean no disrespect) Les Paul that's like 27" or so, but this is a new one on me.

I will be interested in seeing how well "executed" it is. I was a "non-believer" in the longer scale for a LONG time.....Never did get on well with the more typical Tele/Strat variety guitar.

Then I played such as the SuperPro, Talladega Pro and the Huber Dolphin. (Carved top. set in neck, etc). Now it is hard to go back.

I would NOT expect it to have all the exact aspects that make a Paul the only choice for many people. (How many times have you heard someone say, "Yes, Hamers are great, but only a Les Paul IS a Les Paul?")

I have an open mind, but most likely would NOT get one only because of some great similarly configured instruments already in the local population.

most carvins are 25" scale, except on very few models 25.5....carvins 25 feel more 24.75 than 25.5

The shorter scale (okay, and the 22 frets) is the only thing that stands in the way of my LP having more playing/gigging time. If they could make that exact one pictured above, minus the pick guard and add a Floyd Rose, I'd be ALL the F over it.

Oh man... I would love to take that for a spin. I've developed a real love of the 25.5 neck. That's a big reason I went with the SuperPro over and Elite.

I had a Gibson Chet Atkins Tennessean model many years ago, and it had a 25 1/2" scale. It was OK but it leaned more towards clean, twangy sounds rather than rawk or blues...and no, not in a Gretsch kind of way, IMO. I didn't keep it long.

The Hamer Mirage was long scale.

That's right, it WAS! I forgot all about it, I had a Koa-topped one with HBs (a II model without the trimmed down neck heel, I believe) about 15 years ago, too! It didn't stay long, though, it just wasn't my style...it sounded like a Fendery Gibson, or a Gibsony Fender, IMO, and it kinda confused me. ;) Can you tell that I've never owned a PRS?

Have a GMP Pawnshop Deluxe beater (original company). Not normally a big fan of 25.5, but works very well for me on that one.

Here are 2 Gibson long scale models, Blueshawk (hollow body) & Nighthawk (solid body).

If anyone out there gets a serious jones for either one please email.

I am mostly a Tele/Strat guy but still love the sponginess of the short scale. I played one of these long scale Pauls at the Dallas Guitar Show a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't bad, but didn't have near the snap of my Superpro. The Superpro was well thought out and an amazing instrument for all styles of music.
