Can't remember if these have been discussed, but a couple I've heard lately on XM's First Wave:

I've become a fan of the solo work of Tommy Tutone's Jim Keller.

Not sure if this one got posted. We always had fun with this, way back when it was not an ancient oldie.....

And "Witch" by the Sonics and "Stop and Take A Look At Me" by Mr. Lucky and the Gamblers were also "staples" in the Pacific Northwest. Fun times.

There is actually a website with lots of info on PNW bands. Our old band is listed, so it is clearly NOT very discriminating!

"My friend Jack eats sugar lumps" - Is that the line? If so, that's awesome.

My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
Sugarman hasn't got a care
He's been travelling everywhere

Been on a voyage, across an ocean
Heard the sweet sound, of wheels in motion
He's seen the hawk fly high to hail the setting sun

My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
Sugarman hasn't got a care
He's been travelling everywhere

He's seen the people, in the city
And the bright lights, they're awful pretty
He's followed dusty tracks into eternity

Eatin' sugar cane in Cuba
Tried to grow it in Japan
On the West Coast he's real famous
Kids all call him Sugarman

My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
Sugarman hasn't got a care
He's been travelling everywhere

Been on a voyage, across an ocean
Heard the sweet sound, of wheels in motion
He's seen the hawk fly high to hail the setting sun

My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
My friend Jack eats sugar lumps
Sugarman hasn't got a care
He's been travelling everywhere

Wonder what "sugar lumps" are? That? " A common New Zealand euphemism for testicles" Really??? Yak!!!

Or, maybe, it's 1967, they mean LSD which was originally taken on sugar cubes ??

That's true.

I guess I think it of that as a UK hit and under the Tubeaway Army.

Ok, I need to dig the old TA record out. Don't have Cars in mind.

Good call, ZMB. It is the same singer, Jim Peterik. I'd never thought that.

And I always assumed Vehicle was by Blood, Sweat & Tears. No wonder I couldn't find that song in their catalog.

Soundcloud is having problems right now, but I can't wait to hear your cover of it. Thanks for the link.

Eye of the Tiger was sung by Dave Bickler. Guy still sounds great.

Love this song, but Tommy James was no one hit wonder. I grew up listening to all these songs on AM Radio in the 60s, all of which charted in the top 10:

Hanky Panky, I Think We're Alone Now, Mony Mony, Crimson and Clover, Sweet Cherry Wine, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Draggin' the Line.

Great stuff!

These two always amused me in the 80s, but I'm not sure they were really hits:

And for endlessly amusing sexual fish puns:

Been hearing this one on the radio a lot lately.  I always turn it up.  Never heard anything else from them.

They had a couple of tunes - always liked the feel of this one:
