After market case for a Standard?

I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but I can't find anything so please...

Will any of the aftermarket Explorer style cases fit a mid 90's USA Standard?

Do any of you have any experience or opinions on any case?

Mostly this will be a shipping carton so if it will fit well and is sturdy enough to withstand UPS it will be good enough for my purpose.

So far I've found these;

1. Guardian CG 020 X http://guardiancases.com/images/cg020x.html

2. ESP Hard Case for LTD EX Series http://www.amazon.com/ESP-Hard-Case-Electric-Guitar/dp/B001E7YKVS/ref=sr_1_17?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1412798376&sr=1-17&keywords=explorer

3. Epiphone Hard Shell Case for Explorer http://www.amazon.com/Epiphone-Hard-Shell-Case-Explorer/dp/B003NAW8MC/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1412798353&sr=1-3&keywords=explorer

4. SKB Explorer/Firebird Type Hardshell http://www.amazon.com/SKB-Explorer-Firebird-Type-Hardshell/dp/B001ALZFEY/ref=sr_1_4?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1412798376&sr=1-4&keywords=explorer

5.Gator GXDF-1919-7-TSA ATA Molded Utility Case http://www.amazon.com/Gator-GXDF-1919-7-TSA-Molded-Utility-Case/dp/B004TOG8E0/ref=pd_sim_sbs_MI_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=00JT0QR6Q96MNV4P8X37

Any and all comments greatly appreciated. Or if you know of any others that are available.

Thanks all.

Doug

There's been a couple of old brown '80s/'90s Gibson USA Explorer cases up on Ebay in the last month, which were being sold by a well-known used guitar parts seller. Maybe that particular model case would also fit the bill? They do show up now and then, but they also go quickly.

Edited to add: This one looks like it has good potential (no affiliation). Dig the center safety latch! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gibson-Explorer-hardshell-Tolex-guitar-case-circa-1970-1980-/191356474890?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item2c8dbc160a

Also to add: Older Epiphone Explorer cases might fit the bill, especially if they're made-in-Canada TKLs...who also made the Hamer USA Standard cases, as well as some Hamer Standard export cases (hint: sometimes, the only significant difference between TKL Hamer USA cases and TKL Hamer export cases was the lack of the 'USA' stencil on the Hamer logo on the case lid, IMO...provided that the case was a TKL made in Canada.). No affiliation, again: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Epiphone-Explorer-Hard-Shell-Electric-Guitar-Case-OK4-Right-Left-Hand-Gibson-/321415906157?pt=Guitar_Accessories&hash=item4ad5e1836d

I bought the Guardian #1 for my MIK Standard. Fit is really good. It's not super heavy duty, but well made. Worth the $90 & free shipping.

If it was a USA model, I would probably want something a little beefier.

My '95 Standard came with a Hamer import case. The interior was nicely done, and was cut to fit the Explorer silhouette but was noticeably flimsier than the USA versions. Okay for the apartment/rehearsals, but I wouldn't want to gig with it.

Funnily enough, the TKL cases for USA Standards were not form fitted, and those big guitars flopped around a bit, so I bought a modern, Hamer OHSC from Rocketeria.

When my Shishkov is ready for delivery, I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and spend the bucks for the best, form-fit case I can find.

This used G&G looks like a good bargain.

Thanks everybody for your replies. It looks like there are plenty of options out there.

Now if I can just set the hook. B)

Rob - you may just be pleasantly surprised at the cases that will be available for purchase for the Ultimate run...

So were to that point now and we should sit tight?

Personally, that's what I'm doing.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get in on that Ultimate run. So I'm having to resort to buying one of those old Hamers.

And it says it doesn't want me to wait any longer.
