serial Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Seeing each of these new builds and in-progress shots brings an excitement that has yet to wane even slightly. That being said, every time I open the case for #003, I still get goosebumps. Even more when I plug it in. Mike nails it every time!
soli'd Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Hear, hear. I got a ton of questions about 0033 the other night, one of the bar-goers was apparently a big Hamer fan, and asked about the similar, but lower-case, font- he had not heard the story. I filled him in... who knows, maybe a new customer.
bubs_42 Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Serial, your Shishkov gives me goosebumps when you post a picture of it!
Hamerica Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 As much as love the Ultimates, I am looking forward to the forthcoming custom builds, the Maverick, and the DC. That top on the prototype Maverick is spectacular! Always nice to see #0003 and revisit the previous builds. Hamerica
cmatthes Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Agreed! I think that this run may be the last we see of the "Ultimate" body style for the foreseeable future, and I am personally very excited to see Mike's other orders start to get underway!
sixesandsevens Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I'm really curious to see where Mikes next-next prototypes take him. He's clearly an immaculate craftsman, but with a really conservative customer base (guitarists in general), it's gotta be hard to break free of the gravity-well of tradition. (See all of cmatthes' posts saying "Mike isn't building Hamers!" as exhibit A). I really wonder what *he* wants to tackle next after years of insight into what makes some guitars work and others not-so-much.

soli'd Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 This was my first explorer-shaped guitar, I've always dug the design and the 4-Digits etc... but I didn't know it would fit as well as it does, I sort of just ordered on instinct. Considering that I'll likely ask Mike to build any and all future guitars, I'm glad I got an ultimate when they were offered. and +1 to what serial said on the opening the case thing- I still mutter "fck yeah" to myself every time I open it. 😃
cmatthes Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Seriously. These are damned special. I will not part with mine.
Jakeboy Posted May 10, 2016 Posted May 10, 2016 Every time I pick up 0006 I get all guitar-excited! You guys know the feeling. For me it was a homecoming and I will be grateful forever to those who helped make it happen. 0006 is my dream guitar and it remains the most resonant, best playing guitar I have ever picked up. My enthusiasm has not dampened. I will take it to a blues jam tomorrow where I will play some blues and rockabilly. The Shlabotnik girls are very flexible and versatile. The neck pickup is so very clear that it makes the guitar capable of nearly anything. I love all 3 positions but the middle is to die for..,just such a pretty tone. Sweet. The bridge rocks hard. It is a forever guitar.
Jakeboy Posted May 11, 2016 Posted May 11, 2016 From the Blues Jam down at the Lake of the Ozarks last night. My tweed Deluxe is out of the pic. No rockabilly after all, just some nasty greasy blues.
