cmatthes Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 Looked 100% legit to me. Probably had the EMG added and Floyd swapped out, but I've seen a couple Calis in burst over mahogany like that.
Biz Prof Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 That looks to have been a great deal. I have a hankering for something with boomers. Kind of in a bucket list sort of way. That would have done the trick.

Not likely. There was no swapping of OFR for Schaller. Unless, as previously mentioned, it came from the factory with an OFR, Hamer did not rout their pull up cavities to fit a full sized OFR string screw. That sucker fits and handily clears the edge of the rout.

Jake8773 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Quote Is that a repaired crack in the finish or just a natural line in the Mahogany?
JustKid Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Takes a second to recognize USA Cali. That will qualify for the best deal of 2016.

Bennyboy-UK Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Here's the most famous one I could think of that has an OFR with a recess... It's only the main Hamer ad Cali is this ones whereabouts known?
diablo175 Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Again, not presenting myself as anything other than a rabid fan of the model but wouldn't those OFR equipped Calis have been the exception or at most, a short-lived factory equipment spec? It was cited as being an '88 and this would make sense because from what I've seen of Cali's, after 88 they'd have the Schallers on them?

I suppose if you're trying to pull off a Pearl Harbor-style surprise attack on the audience or you need to bust out a rocker at a low key wedding reception. IMHO a Fire Breather deserves a finish commensurate with it's flame throwing status.
veatch Posted June 8, 2016 Posted June 8, 2016 ^^^ I think we've noticed. I like the "sleeper" approach, myself. Keep it subtle to bring 'em in close, then sock 'em right in the nose. This one would have been perfect for that, but that EMG would have had to go. And, yes, my Buick in basic black has a super charger. I'm nothing if not consistent.
