jer_vic Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 They look to be no more than a 1/2 hour drive apart? Get them both! First one, "Heavily modded electronics by previous owner" - $1100: https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/msg/7567470969.html 2nd one, 1995 - $1500: https://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/msg/7565517440.html
Hbom Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I love it when they say heavily modded electronics, but never tell you what the modifications are. Pretty tops though.
JGale Posted December 17, 2022 Posted December 17, 2022 I put push-pulls on my 25th Artist Hog and pulled them soon after. Doesn't seem a reason for them on the semi-hollow. Full disclosure: they're low wind A2s from down south.

Pretty tops though. As long as there are no extra holes or modifications to the guitar itself I guess I could live with whatever they did, as I would probably put it back to stock regardless if I were to buy it. I have bought guitars where they did not disclose messed up electronics and it took me a couple of weeks to put everything back to normal.

It just seems funny when they tell you it's modded but don't say how. If the mod was a set of $18/pair humbuckers, the guitar is not worth the asking price to me. But wraptail Artists are one of my all-time favorites. So I got to look. I guess it doesn't matter. My friend in Portland is in California for the holidays. So even if I thought I might, I probably couldn't.

jer_vic Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 The 2nd one is gone it seems, but the first one is down to $875!! That's gotta tempt someone in the Portland area....

1 bottlerocket Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 That guitar had so many problems that I sent it back under warranty replacement. It was a nightmare. My advice: NEVER buy a guitar from Echopark.

bry4321 Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 He appears to have deleted the “heavily modded electronics” disclaimer

Dave Scepter Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 As long as the bones are there and solid, the modified electronics are an easy fix and can be a welcome "to me" especially in older guitars... obviously, if you're looking for a "all original" guitar, this one not for you 😉
hamerhead Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Anybody notice the block thingy behind the bridge pickup? Synth pickup maybe? Not necessarily a deal-breaker, but it might be more modified than originally thought. I'd still buy it.

I hope that means the guitar has found a new home with someone who will give it some TLC and a new TRC.

Ua D Posted January 28, 2023 Posted January 28, 2023 If you just clean 25 years of crud off a guitar you might find something nice underneath. It had a couple of original seth lovers with coil splits added (very cleanly too). Ill assume whoever did the electrical did not do the very crude tuning machine install with crappy locking schaller copies. Everything but the pots have been put back to stock looking parts by me this week. Including original style real Schaller tuners. I thought normal schallers were heavy, but the knockoff locking ones this had in it weigh a ton. I do have one never used hamer NOS control pot laying around and an vintage taper cts i could put in it but im kind of digging the coil spliton the bridge. New bullet style truss rod cover should be here next week. I feel like the previous owner had to work hard to make this top look so muted in his posting.
