bcsride Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Dear HFC, Updating the listing to open to shipping and paypal. I'll ship for cost (probably UPS) and accepting paypal payment. I have this posted here [reverb] (https://reverb.com/item/68536557-hamer-prototype-1998) and here [facebook marketplace] (https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/966977344582635) I'm not in a huge rush on the sale so I'm willing to work with you on exchange logistics if you are interested. For example, if you want me to mark it as pending, so your sister in law can come take a look at it, buy it, and hold it or you until you see her at the holidays, I'm wiling to work with you. I have a strong preference for a cash (green paper) sale. Having said that, I do have it listed for shipping and etc. at Reverb. I'm willing to sell and ship here as well. Feel free to PM me on various exchange and meet up ideas. For trades, I'd do high end acoustics (in that case, probably + cash to you), maybe the right fretless bass (Hamer or other with plus/minus cash as negotiated), and maybe the correct Gibson 335 or Heritage 535 (again, probably plus cash to you in those scenarios). Let me know if the links don't work.
HamerCustomEr Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Nice guitar for a good price! Slight spelling error on the case, but who cares? Great deal!
burningyen Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 The ‘90s model with the tune-o-matic/stoptail configuration was called a Phantom, not a Prototype. Nice guitar and reasonably priced.
bcsride Posted May 1, 2023 Author Posted May 1, 2023 Opps. will fix the model. My bad. Thanks for the correction. I do think I knew that.
bcsride Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 bump to note that I updated the listing to include shipping and paypal purchase options.
stonge Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 That used to be mine, and it is a fun beast. Only sold because I had 2 Phantoms and 2 Phantom Customs and that was 2 too many lol. Hope that one finds a good Hamer home. GLWTS!
jujisque Posted May 25, 2023 Posted May 25, 2023 Is this routed for the neck pickup I see on most Phantoms/Phantom Customs?
bcsride Posted May 28, 2023 Author Posted May 28, 2023 I've never had the pickguard off so I don't know. Stonge may know. At this point, the guitar is packed to ship so I don't want to unpack to look under the pickguard.

stonge Posted June 20, 2023 Posted June 20, 2023 I'm not 100% positive, but i'm pretty sure it wasn't routed for a neck pickup (if it was i probably would have installed one).
scottcald Posted June 21, 2023 Posted June 21, 2023 Never played one of these, is the middle position a strat-ish bridge/middle type sound or is it different since they’re directly side by side?

I'd not say stratish. It is "middle" so sort of stratish, but it is sort of it's own thing. It is a mahogany, setneck, TOM guitar, so not very stratish.

hamerhead Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 $850 seems like an absolute steal. Why is this still here?

I'm about to take this for sale effort down - and do terrible things to the guitar. I want to a guitar to experiment with pickups, wiring, switching, etc. Based on that fact that this guitar seems to have little resale value, it is about to become my electronics test bed. If I didn't already have it boxed for sale, it would already have come down.
Cboss Posted January 2, 2024 Posted January 2, 2024 You can make it a test bed without doing any damage to the guitar, just use Push Pull pots for the volume and tone, you can do all kinds of switching and no one would ever know, easily reversible Is it routed for the neck pickup under the pickguard?
