straightblues Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Just saw this on the local Offer Up. Someone modified the body shape a little. But thought someone might be interested. $450 seems like a good price. https://offerup.co/KIUzBcXJkDb

Hamer95USA Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 Too band that bass got mutilated. Isn't that a Firebird style or Standard bass? It would have been worth a lot of money if it was left unaltered as they're kind of rare. Would it be worth money if it was restored to original condition or would it considered a basket case as is?

Looks like what's left of a Blitz bass to me. The 'trimming' on the body kinda reminds me of what Clapton once had done to an Explorer, though in this case I'd wish they'd left the front 'horn' alone, also I wish they'd refrained from putting holes in it for multiple strap buttons.
Tortious Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 The ad claims it was a Blitz. Quote I believe this started its life as a Hamer Blitz bass. It looks like the original paint job was removed and the pointy parts were sawed down. Unsure if the pickups are original, but they sound DEEP. It was in need of major repair when i got it. Everything was done professionally and this thing is a blast to play now. Comes with a gig bag. Asking $450 and open to trades. It still is in need of major repair. Maybe the neck could be unglued and put onto a repro body, but it would be far too expensive to ever be worth it.
DaveH Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Whoever did that should have their nuts cut.
Steve Haynie Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Ruin an instrument... sell it... hope no one knows you were that stupid. 🤫 Then there is Eric Clapton and the Explorer. 😪
ARM OF HAMER Posted September 24, 2023 Posted September 24, 2023 Now That IS a Cryin shame................I don't mind a instrument that has mildly modified. Hardware........ pickups, tuners, bridge, electronics, etc. That can make a good instrument even better in many ways...................but you can take it too far, THIS IS too far.
