tqorange Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 On July 23rd 2009, my Standard Custom USA was stolen from my house (Seattle, WA 98107):Picture: 2008-stc.jpgThe serial number is 856116. It was stolen without a case. No cover on the neck pick-up.Reward for info about the theft or the guitar itself. Send a message to me via this board.Thanks.
edgar_allan_poe Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 That sucks...Visit every single pawn shop in the area and I'll bet you it shows up.
pesocaster Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Post this on Craigs list and e-mail it to all the local stores and pawn shops.]Give this a shot too:http://www.screamingstone.com/
Steve Haynie Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Nice fretboard and maple top! Do an eBay search for a Hamer Standard and save the search with the option of getting e-mail alerts. If your Standard is not recovered quickly, it might show up in the next year or so. You might have to look at waaayyy too many auctions, but it might help in tacking down your guitar and the thief.
tomteriffic Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Don't we have some Seattle-area members that crawl the pawnshops pretty regularly?
tqorange Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Don't we have some Seattle-area members that crawl the pawnshops pretty regularly? If there are HFC Seattle members that crawl the pawnshops, it'd be great to get a list of which shops I should hit. I can't believe the thieves took the guitar without its case. Its seems like trying to pawn a high end guitar without a case would be pretty good giveaway that it might be stolen.
murkat Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 What part of seattle are you at? I know of a few places if theyre still there, more than likely they are. Watch out at Guitar Villa, but dont tell them that your reporting a hotty, just keep an eye out there.
cmatthes Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 That really sucks. Will definitely keep an eye open for that one as well. I've got an '08 very similar to yours, but in a different finish, and I know I'd miss the hell out of it. Did you happen to have insurance coverage for it? (crossed fingers) Pic HERE:

True story-- At the local music store there was a rhythm machine or multi-track recorder stolen that required a very specific power supply. Employees of the store knew exactly who it was that grabbed the piece of gear. A week later the clown came back asking if the store had that power supply in stock or if the store could order one. Some people have no shame.
tqorange Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Did you happen to have insurance coverage for it? (crossed fingers) Yeah, it's insured, but a new one wouldn't be this one (on the other hand, if I got my guitar back and it was damaged, it wouldn't be the same either). In the end I owned the guitar less than the amount of time I had to wait for it to be built. BTW, just for clarification, this is the (my) Standard that was stolen (thanks for in-lining the image). I asked Hamer for a Brazalian FB with lots of figuring (they wouldn't use any with heartwood). This has jumbo frets too (Dunlop 6100). Pic HERE:
BTMN Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Only the guitar stolen? If so, it is someone who knew you had it, and chances are they are 14-24 and live within 3 blocks. If not the only thing stolen, then probably druggies and then it could be sitting at some Meth dealers house. Even then I'd still say it is someone who knew you had it. Question any unscrupulous folks who had seen it in the last 10 days before it was stolen. Man! I'd be on the hunt! Good Luck and I hope it returns.
tqorange Posted December 22, 2015 Author Posted December 22, 2015 My guitar, unbelievably, turned up 6 years later at http://www.gearlicio.us. Somehow they were able to skirt the police but I believe the insurance company legal department is still on the case -- as slow as they may be. Please message me if anyone has any additional info.
