Yeah. I came here to offer up an answer, but I can't recall what it was. Ever do that? 🫣

NGD: Incoming Steve Stevens I (1985)
guitarplayer1 replied to guitarplayer1's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Ok, got the guitar. The case has some wear but the actual guitar could be sold as new in a store ... it's kinda crazy. There is a bit of paint stuff on either side of the nut, not on the back of the headstock but on the sides ... which happened a lot even if you bought the thing in the store new. The guitar also came with unfilled warranty card which states the guitar was shipped with .009s. When tuned to pitch, the term is perfectly flat and I'm sitting there wondering if the strings have ever been changed ???? Yes ... that mint. The input jack does have some issues, I sprayed deoxit in there but it seems as though you have to be careful with that jack. Any ideas for further cleaning would be great ... also, as strange as this might sound ... there are 1/4" jacks that are just a touch bigger than others and it could be the jack on the planet waves cable is just a bit smaller ... in any case I'd love to hear thoughts on this. Neck feels pretty good to me, I'll string it up with some new stings in the next few days .. I want it to acclimate to the new environment before I set anything up .... seems like it just needs a new set of strings and possible intonation ... we will see. I'll take some more pics when I get a free moment and post here. I just look at it and think ... this thing is 41 years old???? -

Low Wind Imperials in a Superpro?
duncans replied to Whoismarykelly's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I've had a set of Gravelin Low Winds in a 25th Anniversary Artist that sounded pretty darn good. I've since sold both in my never ending quest for whatever it is I'm looking for. - Yesterday

I installed a pair in my Navigator Explorer. Perfect match, albeit a bit microphonic if I stand too close to a raging Marshall. -

FFS, don't pay that much for a neck that only cost $400 initially! 🤦♂️ -

NGD: Incoming Steve Stevens I (1985)
guitarplayer1 replied to guitarplayer1's question in Ask the HFC Experts
Yes, I've always thought Hamers were great guitars and criminally underpriced in the used market. When I saw the Talladega Pro come up on TGP I just couldn't resist. I had to buy it without ever playing one but I got a good deal and figured if it didn't work for me I could flip it. I ended up taking it to a gig the day after I got it and I've used it a bunch ever since. IMHO, it's the nicest and best sounding guitar Hamer ever made ..... this SS is a totally different beast and I was really looking for 1 guitar with a Floyd just so I had that option if I ever needed it ... the SS fit the bill. -
Low Wind Imperials in a Superpro?

I believe it may have been a custom order cause the wiring looks original. The first I noticed sonically was that the pickups were unpotted and beautifully bright. Sure enough, Seth’s. -

No, Warmoth does not make necks like that so far as I know. That was a Butala Custom Guitars build. Goddamn it, I put all that work and $$ into building a perfectly good instrument, complete with a badass graphic I designed (inspired by Batman "The Killing Joke" to be fair) and this is how it gets treated? Seller stripped all the goodies off of it and is hocking the body and neck? Oh the humanity! 🤨 -
Since you're obviously too fuk'n lazy to Google... 🙄 Factory Pickup Details (Burny VH-1) Design: Designed by Fernandes (Burny's parent company), these vintage-output humbuckers were built to emulate classic Gibson PAF tones. Tone: They offer excellent string-to-string definition and harmonic richness, providing a solid foundation for classic rock and heavy metal when pushed through a high-gain amplifier. Leads: Original VH-1s from the late 1980s typically feature gray pickup leads. Common Modifications Because the original Randy Rhoads models are sought after for aggressive 80s hard rock and metal, players frequently modify them with higher-output pickups to achieve heavier, more modern tones. Seymour Duncan: The Seymour Duncan SH-6 Distortion is a popular bridge choice for emulating Rhoads' aggressive Jackson V sound. The SH-16 Custom/59 Hybrid is also favored to balance high-output drive with classic PAF clarity. DiMarzio: The Super Distortion is a staple replacement for players looking to push their amplifier into heavy, sustaining lead territory. [1] Gibson: Some owners swap the VH-1s for Gibson Super '74 Pickups, which feature Alnico 3 magnets exactly like Rhoads' original studio Les Paul Custom.
