  1. James Honeyman-Scott: "Kid" Jerry Cantrell: "Man In The Box" Robert Quine: "Girlfriend"
  2. Sounds pretty ornate! I like a lot of the newer Martin stuff. What do those sell for new? You'd probably get more interest with at least a single clear picture if you have one.
  3. Here's a pic I snapped a few weeks ago when that one was still just "parts": Those are surprisingly cool guitars - perfect for taking along anywhere with you.
  4. Looks like somebody's been working on their windmills!
  5. Yes. They are molded (somewhat softer) plastic, solid opaque black with a microscopic "HAMER" logo on the inside.
  6. Ringo would never work. Especially in the wake of Macca's recent (excellent) Halftime performance. Starr has fallen flat on his face lately. That latest single about being from Liverpool was more unlistenable than even his worst songs over the last 25 years. Kind of his lame version of the very lame "We Didn't Start the Fire". This coming from a Beatles fan too...
  7. I met Vinnie back in the Summer of '91 when I was bartending (at the Delaware beach area). Couldn't have been a nicer, more humble guy, and seemed shocked that I even recognized him. A few hours after he and his party left, he came running back in and gave me a couple of his personalized guitar picks. That's a really cool shot, Gene! You guys never seem to have any fun down there .
  8. Three total - two last week and I think one in October. For some reason, I seem to recall it being in MO (St. Louis maybe?). It was around a week or so before I saw them in DC, because I remember getting that brief flash of "Oh crap, they couldn't hold it together long enough for me to see 'em again!".
  9. The sound in DC was excellent from my vantage point. In fact, it was one of the better shows I've seen in a few years and I'm a frequent concertgoer. I saw Genesis and the Police within 2 weeks on either side of VH in the same venue, and VH blew the other two away in every respect. I'm going to the Bawlmer show with my 13-year old, so hopefully that won't be postponed. He'd be crushed. Anybody find out what the "official" explanation was for the postponing?
  10. That is the way an insurance contract is SUPPOSED to be written!
  11. Damn. I HAD to put on the entire VH catalog tonight as I was doing stuff around the house with the kids. VH II is still a STRONG album. I got into VH when that album first came out...it still gives me goosebumps to listen to some of that stuff. To me as a 12 year old listener, they just seemed to be having a lot more fun in the studio than most bands I listened to at the time. My youngest son was sitting next to me earlier tonight when "Outta Love Again" came on and he said, "Dad - that's the best song I know". When "Spanish Fly" came on, he said "Now THAT is good - that guitar playing". He's my little drummer, but the kid's got taste!
  12. I'm also torn, but slight edge to VH1. VHII also a classic.
  13. Okay, not me, but SOMEBODY here has "the look"... There's a "zone" thing going on here though:
  14. Obviously you've never had a four-digit Standard arrive broken. There are few feelings worse than that!
  15. I couldn't disagree more. I think that the new headstock is elegant and cool. Way better than the '90s "paddleheads" IMO. As much as I prefer the look of the 4-digit Standard headstocks, I've seen (and own) my share of broken headstocks with that design. The newer version is just better structurally.
  16. I've already sent Peter my check for $500. I didn't realize that was just to get him to TALK about the Electraglide... :0
  17. Stevie: I knew about the Tangerine Prototype with the Dan Armstrong head, but for some reason thought it had a P-90 at the neck - obviously I was mistaken! Very cool stuff. The other guitar you're talking about was (IIRC) a double-bound Blitz in Tangerine sparkle. I remember when that one was for sale - I think that goes back to @'87 or so. Jeez. Ask me if I can remember what I did this morning!!
  18. DMK, LI. Uh, well, it's a red one, has P-90s and I think it has a slightly thicker body. The owner (at least he owned it the last time I saw it) is a member here and may choose to speak on this. I'm not speaking for him because I haven't seen the guitar or a pic of it in many years.
  19. I'm not sure if I'm thinking about the same guitar, but there is an earlier Sunburst w/P-90s and I think it has a slightly thicker body. I'll let the owner of that one chip in if he sees this post...
  20. Only this one: Actually, there were only two Electraglides, as mentioned above. They are both the carved top, Sustainblock models with Standard-style headstocks.
  21. One of Sam's guitars was called the "Duoglide" - not sure if that was the single HB Dan Arm headstock or not. I've got some of Sam's old stocklists around somewhere I'm sure I could dig up that listed on one.
  22. My ideal Hamer - since '85! Sam always had some insane custom Hamers mixed in with all the Danelectros and Silvertones...and the occasional PRS. I also used to spend a lot of time in that little shop on Burke St. and I saw Sam's original "Electraglide" the week it came in - played it a lot, drooled on it even more, and finally had enough to buy a Ferarri Red '82 Special from him later that year. Never got over the 'Glides though (or the Dan Armstrong head Hamers he had). I saw it and took pics of it at a DC guitar show in 90 or '91, and when I went back the next day with cash, it had been sold to a Japanese buyer who loaded that and about 40 other guitars onto a pallet after hours. It turned up a few years ago for sale in Japan, and a member here managed to bring her back to the States. My twin bro ("Serial") has your old P-90 guitar that I believe he bought from Sam. I've tried to order one of those from Hamer for the last 6-7 years, but that's not something they currently want to do - I'll live with that, but keep trying! Here are some other Sam Moss customs and the main Electraglides - at the bottom are recent pix as well as a more current version in Emerald Green:
  23. I $hit you not (ask Kiz), but this is a major consideration for me when looking at a guitar or grabbing one to play. Just got in a new LP and you bet that's the first thing I'll do when I crank it up. I'm simple like that. I'll third that - but also, I like to be able to throw the switch into the rolled off Rhythm pickup mode and kill the sound. Playing way more bass out than guitar over the last few years, but I always did that.
  24. Claypool is on a PLANET all his own! That guy is unbelievable to watch as well as listen to.
