Question About New (Used) Goldtop
Disturber replied to 6string's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Some kind of mix I think. Hamer has a name for it, but I can't remember what they call it. -
Ditto for me! I've had to adjust them for students and customers, but never on my personals. You never had to intonate the guitars? I have never tried this on a floyd base plate, but I have done it a few times on pickup base plates when the screw holes were too big to fit standard pickup screws. (Pickups that had been directly mounted etc). Try taking some small kind of metal rod with a round base, and a hammer. Then try hit the area around the screwhole, on all sides, to make it smaller. This might take some time and Im not sure it will work as the bassplate metal might be to hard. But there is a chance that you are able to tighten the hole enough to make the screw fit again. I would try this before buying a new plate.

Question About New (Used) Goldtop
Disturber replied to 6string's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Hamer's lifetime guarantee would have taken care of it if you would have been the original owner of the guitar. But if you really want it fixed a good luthier can do it. It's only cosmetical, so for most players its not a big issue. -
The First Tone That Made You Say... "Whoa!"
Disturber replied to Hamerhack's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
" The First Tone That Made You Say... "Whoa!" " The first tone that made med say "Whoaaa" was when the guitarrig started to feedback at rehearsal with my first band. I went "Whoaaaa - turn that mother off. It fu*ks my hearing!". -
My favourite Celestion is the original G12-65's from the early 80's. It's similar to the Greenback, but with a little more tightness to the bottom. A truly great sounding speaker. (I have not tried the reissues).

They do PLEK'ing here too. With good results I've read. But it's rather expensive compared to getting a normal fret-dressing at my favourite luthier. He's very good and somehow I think it feels better when someone gives my guitars a little personal TLC, rather than sticking into a machine. What happens it it runs havoc?

Another way to teach consumers that music, (and other intellectual property, film etc), has no value. Downloading free music (illegaly many times), free concerts etc. It's a real downward spiral for the artists. Before they where in the hands or record labels, now they are in the hands of Nike and McDonalds. Which is worse? Well, it is getting harder and harder to run independent labels. The companies living on the marginal's takes the biggest hits. Their artists might not be advertising friendly. But it sure will be a lot more self censoring if the artists need to consider what the sponsors might think. It is probably easier to say f*ck off to a record label than to your biggest sponsor. Everything gets easier to chew. Is all down to the business. Not so much booze, sex and R&R. I just want to be free, I want to get loaded.... I want to have a good time

THANKS! That was massive. WIsh I could´ve been there. I almost pulled the trigger on one of those H.S. Anderson / Hohner Telecasters a few weeks ago. But what the heck, I would not have played like your royal highness anyways, so I did not bother. Edit; Wow, watched it. Goosebumps, shit pomfritt!

Newer Marshall JCM 800 2203`s
Disturber replied to black magic's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I love these amps. They have THE sound. But I actually prefer the 2204 - (50 watters) as they are a little looser and more groovy to my ears. Easier to get a Warren De Martini type of sound, if that is what you're after. And if you want the tighter low end of a 100 Watter you can plug in two JJ KT88's. That will give a little more headrom and a great tightness. Jon Norum from Europe runs his 2205's this way. Sounds great. -
Stones doing "Shattered" is a vintage SNL rock classic. A modern one would be Prince doing "Fury", ripping out those Hendrixesque notes on a baby blue Strat with a Floyd Rose. And hot chicks shaking the booty behind him. I love that Belushi Pepsi and cheeseburger sketch with Charlie Watts and Ron Wood. Classic.

Funny. Since this summer I have had hopes that he would come back to Europe to tour. I never saw him live and I really hoped to catch him, perhaps on his last tour. Now that will not happen. Last week I actually watched a DVD with fotage from a late 70's show. What a performer. Stunning. Pass the peas somebody! Don't let his music be forgotten.

Latest news he died in Atlanta due to illness. Sad, he was the hardest working man in showbusiness.

I just listened through the whole Bootsy christmas CD and it's killer! P-funk all the way, does not feel like a gimmick. Bootsy never fakes the funk, so I'm not surprised. I highly recommend this album for any Bootsy fan. I will check out that reggae christmas album. Sounds very cool. Wiiind me up!! Bubba.

Best X-mas CD award for 2006 goes to Bootsy Collins for the album Christmas is 4 ever. Rumour is it that the award for worst X-mas album goes to Billy Idol. I have not yet heard the album so I can not comment. But when watching this video I do not doubt that this is somewhat correct. It sounds like a joke from Idol. BTW who is the guitarplayer? Link to Billy Idol Jingle Bells Video Merry X-mas everyone!

How many of you have downsized your amps?
Disturber replied to Craig S's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
I've downsized in size, not watts. Used to have a Marshall top and 4x12 cabinett. Had it since 1987 but sold last year. Bought some combo's instead. Two 50 watters, and one 100 watter for clean sounds. Combos are easier to move around and with three amps I have more variations in tone. I will never own a 4x12 cabinett again. It's just to big to move around. Now I just throw the amp in the back of the car and drive off to play. -
Well that is one year before I was born. I would have loved to see that show. Sly and the family stone are one of my fav artists, (one of many). I saw an interview with Larry where he said that he was originaly a drummer, but they had no bassplayer in the band so he played bass at some gigs. Well then of course they had no drummer, (as he was playing bass), so Larry started thumping the strings where the kick was supposed to be, and snap where the snare was supposed to be. That is how he invented the slap bass style. Then later came the P funk with Bootsy, and disco music etc, and then waaay later Flea picked up on the trade.

Because I am the FUCKING MAN, that's why. Damn Euroweenies....... (I love you, Matthias, just don't tell anyone...) Why Eddie WAS the man... Damn. You started it!
-
Why can't I write cool notes that links to the link anymore? Like Greg did. Why does he always get special treatment, damn.

Are they not even allowed to check the guitars in as special luggage? That sounds very strange? I'm flying to London tomorrow with Crucified Barbara, they are doing a UK tour with Motörhead. We will check everything in as special luggage. (Atleast that is the plan....?)
