  1. http://www.ampmaker.com/index.asp Here is an 18W kit from a gentleman in the UK who helped me with advice when I modded my 73 Marshall Artiste. He posts on plexipalace at times as well. I've heard good about his kits, and he's quick to reply if you have questions.
  2. It should be a black lubricat nut. Made from a special sauce cooked from Hamers own recepie.
  3. He's been using Marshall 1987 combos for a long time, for all I know? The album I just played in my car for sure has Marshall tones on it, from 2005." For the past decade Paul has been plugging into a rare Marshall 2100 Lead and Bass 50, circa 1976. These now highly sought-after 50-Watt combos were only produced in small numbers over a three year period from 1973 to 1976. " Live clip with Marshall: The price is suprisingly low though, only 999 British pounds. i was expecting it to be tripple that. http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/brands/Marsha...1351/p7580.aspx
  4. Im not a big fan of when the big brands issue limited edition series and stick a famous name to the design. Most often it's just a reason to blow up the price, and yes - Marshall does this all the time and it's quite tiresome. But this amp found my liking. Pretty cool (did I say I love Marshall combos, love Paul Weller too). http://www.marshallamps.com/product.asp?productCode=1987XPW
  5. This is what you need. New album just out
  6. I have two '79's. One sound pretty much like an old LP, very pearly gates - B Gibbons like. The other one sounds more similar to an old SG. There is a noticeable difference on the two, go figure... They are both great.
  7. I'd trade a '79 Custom Sunburst for one of those, they are kewl.
  8. Great looking guitars! I'd say the story behind them are "the 80's". Many shredder type of guitars came with tele-shaped bodies and with a Floyd Rose or Kahler. I've seen Jacksons, G&L and others. Here is Jesse Johnson from the Time. Typical 80's look to match the guitar
  9. Happy birthday!
  10. One of the regretfully sold. This one had awesome tone, the only guitar with a JB in the bridge I had that sounded good. It was rather heavy and had a neck on the thin side, so I sold it. Stupid me. It was great.
  11. Hamericas Vector. (I'm going to pay some japanese ninjas to snag it for me.) And Robins Zanders Hamer rickenbacker style guitar would be cool, or any of Rick Nielsens crazy creations.
  12. I really like the original Wilkinson tele bridge. It's got great coupling as each saddle is screwed tightly to the basplate = better sustain. It works like a "sustainblock tele bridge" It might have a bit more oomph to it compared to a traditional tele bridge, not as thin and perhaps a tad less spank. But I'd say it's less ice picky and it works great for more modern tele sounds, great for slightly overdriven rock and a little warmer clean sounds. Just what I like. But If you are a traditional honky country tele picker and want that thinner vintage clean tele sound - then a traditional design with brass sadles might sound different and more in that style. I don't chicken pick, so this is not what I'm after. My guess is that the reason Wilkinson does not produce these bridges anymore has more to do with the fact that people choose with their eyes and not with their ears when they buy eqipment. The bottom line is that a more traditional design on their bridges sells more product - so they changed the design.
  13. MINISTRY. Boy, did they put on a GREAT show. Iggy Pop - Blah Blah Blah tour. Damn the Iguana could be a full blown punk Sinatra in his heydays. The Cramps and The Red Hot Chilipeppers - Seing Lux Interiours and Fleas dicks on stage was entertaining, in a weird kinda way. Not pretty sure I want to do it again though. The Jesus & Mary Chain - just a few gigs before they broke up. Fists were in the air, never felt such tension on stag. Faith No More - Last tour with that ugly bearded guitarplayer. Insults were flying on stage, fists in the air. The The Jesus & Mary Chain and Faith No More shows were, so to speak, entertaining in a way they probably were not supposed to be. But anger and tension on stage can be pretty damn exiting to watch.
  14. I guess mine will be the RAYGUN "lite". LOL! I remember watching the Thompson Twins w/ SS on Live Aid over & over just to see the guitar. It looked black on the VHS. Heres Thomson Twin at live aid w. Steve (comes in at the end)
  15. Had one. Sold it. It's a heavy beast and the pots were noisy. Soundwise I could never really dial it in right, no matter what tube I threw in there.
  16. I have a VHS tape with Phils last TV-interview ever. From Sky-channel, a Uk channel back in the mid 80's. It's a damn sorry sight to see, he´s got shades on the whole time and he's pretty swollen up. They talk about why his then new band Grand Slam could not get a record deal, and that Lizzy will probably get together again at some point. Sad stuff indeed...
  17. Now I am scared. There are to many idiots out there, clearly.
  18. You can always use a sharpie. Oh, never mind
  19. Yes, another super talented Swedish guitarplayer. He is a bit more sophisticated than Yngive But it would be cool to hear them play a fuga on the same stage. My friend, who's a photographer, took some nice portraits of Göran a few years back.
  20. Sending Viking healing chants your way. Going out to Adelsö - Birka territory, where the Vikings roamed, this weekend. Will send the Gods of Valhalla your way. Hang in there
  21. Ice Cream Man? Sorry. No need to apologize. I'm cranking it right now and it sounds pretty f**kin' strong to me! Word. I've been listening to VH1 solid for the past month and a half. It never gets old. My tops are: 1. VH1 2. Fair Warning 3. VH II 4. Wimmin n' Chillun First 5. 1984 6. Diver Down Those are the only VH albums I'm aware of. Were there really others? I 2nd that order. And NO, there where no other real VH albums after that. Some of the guys however later made some 80's work out music with that guy Sammy. I think they made a shit load from it.
  22. The only thing I have against PRS are that their designs are almost always butt ugly. 1) The shape of their headstocks look like ass. 2) The body design is comfortable, but to many Nu Metal guitarists used them in the 90-s. I don't see myself ever owning a guitar that is associated with Fred Durst. 3) Their neck heels (on the ones I've tried) have been huge compared to my Hamer´s, (which have the best neck heel design on the market). 4) They have birds on the fretboards. To me that is new age. I am not a new age guy. I am not even religious. But I think that is a big reason I don't like them. Birds, makes me laugh. If an inlays should be anything else than a dot or a block it should be a Toni Iomi upside down cross, dragons, Homer Simpsons face, Poes ass.. anything but birds and dolphins. New age sucks!!!
  23. What you have done here is just fantastic!! I wish I had your talent in wood work. That guitar was not only saved from savage abuse, it now looks better than before
