I thought they launched the Pubster (and Clubster) as "the NEW Super Champ" a couple of years back. Not that it was, nothing beats the Super Champ (just kidding as proud SC owner). This is how they chose to market those amps. But I guess every trick is re-usable.... "Rivera Amplifiers are legendary for not only the best tone on the planet, but also for rugged construction and a long life. This tradition continues in the latest additions to our growing family: Introducing the Rivera Pubster and Clubster series. Compact and lightweight, yet big on tone, the all-tube amplifiers in this remarkable new series will please amateurs and pros alike. Paul Rivera designed the now-collectible Super Champ® for Fender in the early 80s, and now the Rivera Pubster and Clubster series delivers the tone and versatility that will create new legends in the 21st Century."

No doubt - I was pretty much shut out with Ticketmonster when they went on sale a couple of Fridays ago. We have a reserved box at Verizon Ctr though (corporate), so we're hoping to snake that. That'd be cool, no doubt. I was able to get though with Ticketmaster when they went on sale, but I'll be damed if I was going to pay $150 or so for a ticket that wasn't even on the floor. I decided to just not go, but a bud of mine called to say he had an extra nosebleed ticket for $80 or whatever so I took it. I hope I don't regret it... I was pissed at the Van Hagar reunion show I saw at Verizon a few years back....Eddie was WAY out of it at that point. Those high ticket prices are what has been keeping me away from concerts lately. For $100+ and the cost of parking, getting off work early, etc. there better be a seat in the first ten rows. It is always a gamble. You get three hours of live music with no control over who may be standing in front of you. A guy cannot help being 6'4" or 5'8", but missing a view of concert because you are standing behind a row of basketball players sucks. Sitting in a seat so far away that you have to watch video screens is no way to see a show, either. I have been in the nosebleed seats with different levels of satisfaction over the view of the show. If I can see facial expressions it is OK. I saw the Rolling Stones in a football stadium and could only tell they were walking around. Prices like that are no longer Rock N Roll friendly. RnR and nosebleeds go hand in hand. Those prices are ELDERLY peoples homes friendly.

i agree that their other albums don't match the quality of "fire down under" as far as tunes go. as for recording time, sometimes it takes a while to nail the right tones and takes. i was reading the linear notes, and they make mention of "a 3 year struggle to release this album", but i think they're referring to record company woes, not studio time. No, I was thinking of Rock City. I just checked and it says:" Recorded at the Big Apple Recording Studio - November 1976 - June 1977. " That is a looooong time in the studio for such a rough album. Songs and arrangements are so-so. It's a cool 70's album, but with eight months in the studio they should have had time to create a good damn masterpiece. But perhaps they where there in and out, and not the whole time in one go. Who know... I just thought it was funny to think of.

I have a bunch of old Riot vinyls. I remember last time I listened to one of them that it was not as good as I remembered from the 80's. They had also written down how much studio time they had used in NY to record the album and I found it really amusing how long they where in the studio in the early 80's to record such a basic simpel album. It must have cost a fortune. It's basically just basement hard-rock on those early two, three albums. Bass, guitar, drums and vox. I guess they used the time to consume other more hazardous stuff

Another HFC member told me it would be a good idea to ask for help here. I got stiffed on a deal for two pickups recently. Last contact I had with the guy was in June/July. Since then my emails are bouncing. He goes by the name Daneswede1 on the Gear Page. James Henderson is the name he has given me, and I think he works or runs this place called Store Coast Recordings: http://stores.ebay.com/Coast-Recording-Equipment-Supply This is a telephone number I have that I think is his: 561-305-2530. Which State does this number go to? Store Coast seems to be located in Los Angeles California. If anyone here on the HFC can help me file a police report on the guy for scamming me I would be grateful. Would it go under mailfraud? Perhaps a call from the police would make him ship the pickups out. Unfortunately you need to post a complaint with paypal within one or two months. He kept stalling, sending me mails that shipping had gone bad and he would send again etc. So it was past paypal's complaint time when I tried to file one with them. Thanks in advance!

has this ever happened to you?

Buying a used guitar and then getting pissed off that he needs to get a set up to make the guitar play the way he wants it to, and he is surprised? I think he should buy new if he so concerned, (not Gibsons ). I almost haven't bought one used guitar that I didn't need to mess with one way or the other to fit me the way I like it. Most of them get their frets dressed, even it it's an extra cost. It's like buing a used car, there is always something to fix here and there to make it play absolutely proper. I think you should tell him that the expense is on him, unless the frets were really worn out. Some players don't care at all about some fret wear, some (like me) like them even all over the fretboard. If he buys used he should be prepared to take that extra cost. Nothing strange with that. -
You got it, let's order two. Perhaps they'll go for it.

Jazzbox or Semi-Hollow for Rock?
Disturber replied to Halowords's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
Check out www.backyardbabies.com for some rock guitar tones on a 335. Dregen has his guitar stuffed with old band Tshirts as a cure for feedback. I think a Newport should get you where you want to go. Killer guitars all the way! -
I heard that it's Zakk Wylde's new custom model from Gibson. Reliced and ready to r.a.w.k.

Favorite bands that went nowhere, dept.
Disturber replied to BCR Greg's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
An english band, (coming out of LA for some reason), called A. They were great musicians and had songs that sounded like a mix of mid 90's power pop together with Rush, old Genesis and DLR first solo album. Weird, I know. That is probably why they never broke through big. I absolutely love them though. Check out a video link at the bottom of this page. A info and video link. Also, a band called Young Heart Attack really kicked ASS. A mix of AC/DC and The Runaways. Loved their only album. Check them out here link to sound and vids -
I saw Billy Idol on MTV with Steve Stevens soloing on Rebel Yell. I went out and bought my first Hamer

Ebony looks really cool. But if not taken care of properly it has a tendency to crack, which is less fun. Tonewise I don't really hear much difference either, especially on overdriven tones. I guess ebony is a rarer wood also (?) so for sake of the enviroment I prefer rosewood or maple.

Where have all the Chappys gone?
Disturber replied to Zoner's topic in For Sale - Wanted to Buy - PIF - eBay & Other PSAs
Or lo and behold, people are actually playing the heck out of them and refuse to sell 'cause they enjoy a great guitar. -
I started to answer this and when I sat down to think I came to realise I have to may LP's and CD's. It's just impossible to remember everything out of thousands of albums. But I have many artists that I love and pretty much own all their full lenght releases. My collection takes up pretty much a whole wall in the dining room, and I keep my CD's in thin plastic covers, all jewel cases are thrown out.

Smoking ban coming - giggers opinions?
Disturber replied to Zoner's topic in Hamer Fan Club Messageboard
We've had a smoking ban for two years or so. I think it's great. As an ex smoker I had a hard time going of for a beer with smokers. If they smoked I just needed a cigarette as well. If no one else smokes when I'm drinking then I do not need to either. Sometimes I just feel we are creating a really boring place to live in. When I was in my twenties I loved to go out and party, AND smoke! Are we killing all possibilities to live a rock n' roll lifestyle? Here in Sweden the government is coming down on sound levels in live situations, concerts, festivals, nightclubs etc. I have been to shows that had a volume ban. It is killing music. Rock n' roll is supposed to be loud, sweaty, dirty and smoke filled. That is the only way I want it, really. One thing I find really ironic is that you American's are banning smoking, but don't ban the possibility to buy guns. ( I just don't get it, but I am not trying to start a big argument about that. Let this be a topic about smoking. ) -
That book was out of print here in Sweden when I wanted to buy it. I know a guy at the book publishing company that imports it and he told me they sold out the last ones in stock extremely cheap, (like 5 dollar a piece or so). And he also told me of a little bookshop in town that still would have a few copies. They had two copies left and I had to pay up like 20$ per book, I bought the other for a friend. That was a bit irritating at the time, as I just missed the sell out. But now 20 bucks for that book seems like a bargain Must be the nude picks of rick, with that carrot, that is driving up the prices.

Perhaps these? They don't make 'em like they used to anymore...
