  1. i'm confused. you're playing thru ace's rig w/ ace's band, but ace won't be there...?
  2. my advice is start w/ amp sims only (add cab sims if you are running direct). dial a few in before starting to throw on stompboxes/mics/outboard stuff. have fun!
  3. welcome. you done good broseph, that's a good lookin ax. the slammer series were the 1st (and very best quality) of all the hamer imports. my 1st hamer was also a slammer series sunburst that i bought used around 1997 as a gig backup for my LP studio. i soon realized that it looked/played/sounded/held tuning better, so i sold the LP. then i found this place around 1999, many hamer usa's followed soon after, i think i've owned around 20 usa's since (down to 3 right now). save up and keep an eye on the for sale board here, your next step is a usa hamer, and they do pop up pretty cheap every once in awhile. ps- i dig jethro tull too, saw 'em live w/ govt mule opening in the 90's.
  4. kickarse! i have one in black; needs new pups eventually, methinks.
  5. yeah, they do work better w/ a few beers!
  6. Easy to say when medicated. LOL!!! How you feeling bro? i'm ok. DavidB is on his way over w/ the bird, so thats very cool. my meds suck (percocet), they don't give you a buzz, they just dull the pain (my pain is light this week). been on the phone trying to get someone to deliver some smokey treats!
  7. please, everyone take a deep breath. we're all on the same side.
  8. tommy emanuael should be #1, rodrigo y gabriella should be in top 10.
  9. thanx to everyone for all the phone calls and support!
  10. starting to get cabin fever! i've been surfing CL for another bike (ins check for my totaled bike is in the mail), but 1st i will rent something for a day just to make sure that i'm not too freaked out to ride (doubtful). i'm over the gear chase, but might treat myself when the pain & suffering money lands. i'm thinking something simple and toneful, prolly a hamer jr and a marshall class5.
  11. HAHAHAAAAA!!! thanx joe, i needed that.
  12. thanx everyone, i love you guys.
  13. dave , i'm at baptist in winston. maybe you can bring the bird by the house next week?
  14. I am alive! Four screws and a plate in my right tibia, four cracked ribs, staples in left shin and temporary tissue damage in my left hand. I was driving west on Highway 65 (two lane road); a car ahead of me in opposite lane had signal on and stopped to cut across traffic in front of me. I slowed down to 35 and we made eye contact. Car behind her pulled into the shoulder to pass her on the right. He passed her and then made a left directly in front of me. I hit him and flew over his hood, landing on my knees. Could have ended a lot worst, besides the pain the worst part so far has been the catheter. Thanks for the well wishes.
  15. dave you sick mu-fucher! when that lands i'm comin over w/ some chilled crown.
  16. huh? i musta missed that day. i think you're confusing the practice in jazz to omit the 3rd in a 13th chord to avoid the minor 2nd clash between the 3rd & 11th.
  17. i agree. but HHB has a point, there's often more than one way to name chords. that said, i was taught in school years ago to always 1st try to spell a regular tertian (thirds based) chord w/ all the notes (regardless of their order), if you do that its obviously an inverted (or "re-voiced") D9 ( root position spelling would be D F# A C E ). funny, i'm having a very similar mild pissing contest over on the rush board r/e the 3rd chord in "spirit of radio", low to high voiced G# E B B E (i'ts an E chord w/ the 3rd in the bass, but guys there are calling it a G# chord ). edit: i did not (and will not bother) reading all of the replies, so please don't feel insulted if you think its something else.
  18. dave, you should get one w/ the kiss faces!
  19. zen played me this yesterday, i was blown away!! note how the images follow the vibe of the music; dark and angry, then later happy and colorful. the atomic bomb on the last powerchord is the shit! also the lava and fire images perfectly match the ballsy guitar solo tone (his trusty arlington heights scarab). fat synthy tones abound, moving images, this is high art. zen & my project this fall is to make a pro vid out of live footage edits from the 1st 2 NOT RUSH gigs. i'm psyched for the experienced help, geoff is psyched to shoot and edit a rush tribute instead of hundred of wedding vids (his day gig). cheers to my boy geoff!!!
  20. i have tix for this; On November 20 and 21 Abstract Logix will host its debut festival. The Festival will draw together artists who “seamlessly mingle compositional ingenuity and improvisational grace and fervor.” The line-up certainly meets this goal, with John McLaughlin and 4th Dimension, The Lenny White Group (featuring Jimmy Herring), Wayne Krantz, and more. The event will take place at the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh North Carolina. my dream gig would sub scofield/MMW, and charlie hunter (instead of mclaughlin and some of the others), but i'm psyched to see krantz and herring on the same bill.
  21. haha! thanx to rockola & jack c for the jam/booze/grub, and thanx to david b for the kiss tix (they fookin' RAWKED, awesome show). good times!!!!
