  2. swung by daves house on my way home last night and man-handled this bad boy. it is completely bad-ass!! dave has an amazing collection of hamers!!
  3. you're kidding, right? fungs posts don't read like a jr high kid typed 'em, ha.
  4. in the distant past i've gigged a slammer series sunburst (w/ new pups), and a '56 fender musicmaster (w/ new pups & kahler!). i've owned both the mustang & musicmaster basses.
  5. when i get back to town i'm coming over!!!
  6. i had a racked head version of the .22+ w/ eq. a bunch of the solos and some rhythms on our cd were recorded w/ it (it actually recorded better than the pricey carr rambler i had started the cd with). i have a celestion greenback 8 ohm 12" that i may be selling that would be perfect for that.
  7. watched headbangers ball this weekend. they played a track by machine head called "now i lay thee down" that i dug so much i actually got off the couch and downloaded it from itunes (1st time i've ever done that). i never liked MH's stuff until a few weeks ago when i heard their cover of maidens "hallowed be thy name". older stuff by them had screamed vocals, but these 2 tunes were killer. couldn't find the video i saw, but here's the tune; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGCn4IEv31Y...feature=related they had a few other cool videos, although the music had crappy vocals. there was one by kreator that is the best video manowar never made (dude even looks like eric adams, haha), vikings fighting w/ swords & other such violence, very well shot & cool riffs; my bassist gave me a cd-r copy of the new messuggah cd "obzen". typical horrible modern metal vocals, but this bands riffs and odd meter/syncopated rhythms are quite amazing and very original.
  8. cool thread, i like seeing y'alls jamrooms/studios. i'm always surprized how many guitars some folks own! as for wives busting balls r/e expensive hobbies, its the opposite at our house; i have 3 hamers, 2 cheap acoustics, a few small amps etc, but she has 6 of these; they are an amazing black hole vortex of our money and her time, ha. but, they make her happy!
  9. damn, i thought the days of the $350 usa hamer were long gone. isn't this *supposed* to have a headstock repair at this price? ha.
  10. townshend did that on his LP's, but he hadda gaggle of 'em; does your pal have 4 more jacksons? if so, why? haha ps- nice hamer, never seen one w/ the toggle up top.
  11. that reminds me of the rehearsal studio i used to own in charlotte; we used insulation wrapped in plastic for sound dampening on the walls. lotsa nice gear, jes!
  12. iommi's sound has more to do w/ P90's and a rangemaster treble booster. the all mahogany special that i put phatcats in had a very SG-ish tone, esp when i had HHB's tone wizard booster, sabs city.
  13. sweet. i had the non blingy regular run, nice guitar. surprisingly bright for an all mahogany semi hollow. ps- i miss my kitty.
  14. i'm gonna try the GFS "NEO7 Neodymium V31 Single Pickup- Hotter than Vintage" in the neck slot of my chap, its on its way now.
  15. thats another video i saw. i couldn't believe it was slipknot! singing AND ripping solos, and the chorus was actually hooky. they've come aloooong way from "new abortion", ha.
  16. i saw headbangers ball the other day. symphony x had regular vocals, keys, shreddy guitar. seemed just ok to me, not great, can't really put my finger on why. maybe because it was just too fast (think dragonforce). machine head has a new cover of maidens "hallowed be thy name" that was cool. but thats not really new, is it? the sword is very old school sounding, the vocals aren't screamed/grunted, they're sung, but i still didn't like it. it was like a local metal band, not bad just kinda mediocre. they also played a new testament tune, which was pretty damn good, very old school metallica sounding. thumbs up. everything else new they played had the typical HORRIBLE vocals (lamb of god, pig destroyer, etc... yeeachh). ps- me likes the new metallica (haven't seen any videos).
  17. the only cool relics are the ones that come by it naturally.
  18. ***nevermind, i'm starting a new thread***
  19. *thread hijack* ***nevermind, i'm starting a new thread***
  20. i haven't owned a bunch of shredders; jackson (got it instead of money owed to me; nice ax but i need a neck pup, and i was embarrased by the skull paintjob even back when i was 25, ha) yamaha (which was really decent), usa cali (not impressed, prolly one of the few mediocre ones), import diablo (not bad for $125), SSI (which was great but i didn't like the look), kramer/warmoth partscaster (sometimes the whole is NOT greater than the sum of the parts, ha), and a project ibanez sabre ltd ($75 pawnshop prize, now undergoing stikerizing)... but my fave shredder (this just in); welcome the "bob wilson" chap. steve haynie brought this up from SC this week. 24.75" set 24 fret neck, ebony board, OFR, players wear. i'll prolly switch out the the pups & mini switches (impossible to switch quickly during a gig), but this plays awesome. thanx steve!
  21. here's to my fellow vertically challenged talented hamer brother! i have spoke w/ greg several times on the phone, and look fwd to meeting him someday. cheers!
