  1. Music and Arts is a division of GC and is steadily buying out all the band contracts that used to go to mom and pops
  2. your an enigma in a watchcap
  3. what makes you think Willcutt sold it for a grand?
  4. played once, what the hell?
  5. the dogears just KILL the soapbars IMO, it's almost another class of pickup and I've been underwhelmed by the Lollars I've heard
  6. Soulbone uses the Yamaha club series 115/horn cabs and matching bass bins, it's all powered by a Yamaha ex5000 and one additional amp for the subs, I can't say enough good things about the Yamaha club series and EX board, were never under powered and leave the subs in the trailer for the acoustic gigs
  7. I like the Fishman Rare Earth humbucker connected to the endpin, IMO the most natural amplified acoustic tone out there ( I was using this system before I bought my Ovation elite and still think the Fishman is the better tone ) btw I would forget about miking live, it's just too much trouble w/o dedicated techs in a situation where there are other loud instruments
  8. I'm on an all mahogany crusade of late, I can hear that thing kickass just looking at it, oh my!
  9. me too, I prefer it to a modulated effect in the same application
  10. Soulbone is @ The Hanger in Asheville NC 1-5 and @ The Rusty Lizard in Sylva NC friday 1-6, 1-7 cancelled on us at the last minute ( dicks )
  11. your right, a great trivia "ace in the hole"
  12. was the single under the ZZ Top name?
  13. Johnny B is right on the mark AGAIN! I have no love for Ovations per se, they always sounded weird and dead, but my guitar sounds freaking huge, plays like a dream, was cheap as hell and is tough as nails, is made in the USA (hell right next to Hamers! ) I'm very satisfied.
  14. I agree w/ JW3 , BUT that ain't how it works, people hear w/ their eyes and acoustic means " pure and genuine" in the public perception ( discount the horrible piezo assault we hear ) so if they say acoustic they mean looks like acoustic, build some wings on your studio LOL. Ironicly, the 1778 elite T sounds best when the pickup assembly is removed and the sound escapes via the side a little bit. I'm really developing a strong attachment toward my Ovation, I use it to teach everyday and I play it more than any other guitar I own by a factor of at least 2, I'll be using graphite top by 07, wait and see
  15. I'm not saying this is the absolute best choice there is, cuz I haven't played everything out there under a grand. But I think you must at least play an Ovation 1778T Elite T Series Acoustic-Electric Guitar before parting with your long green. You know how picky I am about tone and sound, and I find this Ovation shockingly good-sounding and playing, and can be had 'most anywhere for around $750: As far as playing like an electric, fuhgeddaboudit. Ovation wrote the book on that. And here's a review from GuitarOne that echoes pretty much what I thought of it, though I didn't play it plugged in. As hi-tech/synthetic as it looks, it has a surprisingly woody organic tone. And it's black, and I think it's USA-made. great suggestion, here's me w/ mine I LOVE it and the acoustic sound is Ovations best in a wood top IMO
  16. +1. When I saw that, I distinctly remembering, "Who the hell are you?" I think "who the hell are you?" is a new one! congrats JohnE! flawless
  17. my technique is pretty much flawless at this point
  18. damn it looks like my old one, boy's it aint my heart thats hard now LOL
  19. Brooks turned me onto Tenatious D, I'm forever grateful. Phoenix , I don't know where to start, suffice to say I'm in his debt bigtime
  20. you guys do know how the Hipshot works, you move tha bar w/ your ass to bend the B, tre sexxy!
  21. ah hell , the Grovers make it like Ray Flakes old tele, twang approved! I would like to try the 3 saddle brass bridge just for comparison sake
  22. well crap, still a cool piece that I'm looking foward to! Tom, if you ever find that bridge shot me an email and I'll buy it off ya
  23. email sent! Hey Tom, do you know if the holes were reamed for the grovers?
  24. cool! I had one exactly like that in original condition way back in 83ish, damn would not stay in tune for love nor money so some of the early one were kinda crazy as to tuning stability ( nobody could figure out why, it looked fine and all the specs measured out fine, a weird phenomenon )
